Your Responsibilities
As an Engineering Lead at John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group, located in Urbandale, IA, you'll be a key leader in delivering John Deere Operations Center products that enable our customers to optimize their operations while leveraging precision agriculture technology. Our Engineering Leads are technical leaders - designing and developing production software, championing software development practices, and mentoring/coaching their team members. An ideal candidate will have a passion for technical leadership and for delivering customer value via high quality software solutions. The responsibilities for this role include:
- Lead one to two software delivery teams to enable the development of John Deere Operations Center web applications
- Provide engineering leadership in web application development defining design best practices, creating a common design system, and analyzing application performance.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering Leads, Product Managers, Architects, User Experience, and other supporting teams to define product requirements and application designs.
- Mentor, coach and develop your direct reports. This includes providing frequent on-going feedback/guidance on individual performance and career development.
- Attract, retain, and grow great engineering talent within your team and throughout our organization.
- Lead organizational change through adoption of strategic technologies, architectures, best-practices, and tooling in support of software development.
- Demonstrated experience leading software development teams
- Demonstrated experience as a primary technical team leader/mentor
- Demonstrated experience building web-client or server-side applications/services
- Demonstrated experience with Agile development methodologies including Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration/Deployment
- Demonstrated experience with build and test pipeline automation, monitoring, and other DevOps methodologies
- Demonstrated experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
- Experience leading teams providing shared services for multiple teams in an organization
- Experience as manager, including individual performance management, career development, and hiring
- Experience with Precision Ag technologies and their use
- Advanced Computer Science, Engineering, IT-related, or business-related degree
- Bachelor's degree in either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or other IT-related discipline
