Summary:
The Principal Cybersecurity Engineer serves as the senior technical lead for mission assurance and cyber risk assessment activities supporting DoD operations. This role provides technical oversight for Functional Mission Analysis-Cyber (FMA-C) and Mission-Relevant Terrain-Cyber (MRT-C) efforts, advising government leadership on cyber dependencies, mission risk, and operational impacts.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Serve as the senior technical lead for execution of Functional Mission Analysis-Cyber (FMA-C) and Mission-Relevant Terrain-Cyber (MRT-C) activities under the contract
- Provide technical direction and oversight for all MRT-C assessment teams to ensure consistent methodology, quality, and alignment with government mission assurance objectives
- Advise government leadership on cyber dependencies, mission risk, and operational impacts affecting supported missions
- Coordinate closely with planners, analysts, and mission owners to ensure accurate identification of mission-relevant terrain and supporting cyber infrastructure
- Oversee development and delivery of mission assurance reports, assessments, and supporting analytical products
- Lead coordination with operational leadership, installation stakeholders, and mission partners to support assessment execution and mission assurance activities
- Facilitate program synchronization across multiple assessment teams to ensure timelines, milestones, and deliverables are met
- Lead meetings and briefings with government leadership and stakeholders to communicate mission risk findings and recommended courses of action
- Provide oversight for validation activities, including cyber range integration, threat-informed analysis, and mission risk verification
- Support program management in strategic planning, contract execution, and alignment of technical activities with mission priorities
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity principles, mission assurance frameworks, and defensive cyber operations supporting operational mission systems
- Ability to analyze complex operational environments and identify cyber dependencies affecting mission execution
- Strong understanding of mission relevant terrain analysis and cyber risk prioritization
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief senior military and civilian leadership
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams operating across operational, technical, and planning domains
- Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills across Joint, interagency, and mission partner organizations
- Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information systems, engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 10-15 years of cyber operations, mission assurance, or cyber risk analysis experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting DoD operational environments at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) required.
- Experience engaging with senior military and civilian leadership across operational organizations
- TS/SCI clearance required
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) preferred
