Job Title: IT Audit Consultant / Technical Documentation Consultant

Location: Jackson, MS (100% Onsite)

Duration: 3 Years

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced IT Audit / Technical Documentation Consultant to develop, maintain, and enhance information security governance documentation. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cybersecurity frameworks, compliance standards, policy development, and technical writing. The consultant will work closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts to create documentation that supports governance, risk management, compliance, and audit initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise Information Security Policies.
• Create technical security standards supporting approved policies.
• Develop operational procedures and implementation guidance.
• Create security baselines and configuration documentation.
• Review compliance documentation for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and enforceability.
• Recommend improvements to governance documentation structure and organization.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to document security controls and processes.
• Maintain document version control and support periodic reviews.
• Produce clear documentation for technical teams, management, auditors, and external stakeholders.

Required Skills

• Strong technical writing experience within Cybersecurity or IT Governance environments.
• Experience developing security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Knowledge of NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF).
• Experience with NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
• Familiarity with IRS Publication 1075 requirements.
• Understanding of CIS Critical Security Controls.
• Security Governance and Risk Management experience.
• Identity and Access Management (IAM).
• Incident Response and Vulnerability Management.
• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning.
• Vendor Risk Management.
• Security Awareness and Training Programs.
• Policy Lifecycle Management.

Preferred Skills

• Experience creating governance documentation aligned with NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, and IRS Publication 1075.
• Experience supporting audits and compliance assessments.
• Public sector or large enterprise environment experience.
• Excellent documentation review and quality assurance capabilities.

Certifications

• CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
• CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)
• CGRC (Certified in Governance, Risk and Compliance)
• Security+ or equivalent cybersecurity certification
