Indexed description
Position: Principal Security Architect
Location: Dallas, TX
Hybrid Schedule (4 days a week onsite/1 day remote)
Direct-Hire Target Salary: $225-240k + 20% Bonus
Looking for a hands-on DevSecOps / product security engineer embedded in product development — not GRC hire. Our client needs someone who can actually engineer and operate security alongside dev teams, not just assess or document it.
- Must-haves (baseline): Infrastructure security fundamentals (this is the floor, non-negotiable)
- DevSecOps experience tied directly to the product development lifecycle
- Security ownership over new product releases and implementations
- Strong communication skills — able to explain security clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
As a Principal Security Architect, you’ll consult with senior leaders and business units to translate strategic goals into secure technology solutions. You’ll lead security architecture reviews, guide secure design decisions, and influence adoption of cloud security and defense-in-depth strategies. Your role is about driving vision, aligning business and security objectives, and ensuring teams innovate with confidence.
- Act as a trusted security consultant for executives, business stakeholders, and engineering leader
- Translate strategic objectives into secure architecture solutions that meet enterprise standards and risk tolerance
- Lead application security architecture and design reviews, embedding secure coding and DevSecOps practices
- Influence adoption of secure cloud architectures (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker) and scalable security frameworks.
- Provide thought leadership on cybersecurity trends, compliance (SOX, SOC2), and emerging threats.
- Advise on the security impact of new business initiatives, ensuring security enables—rather than blocks—innovation.
- Mentor and coach developers, architects, and engineering teams in OWASP Top 10 and best practices.
- Represent security in strategic planning and technology roadmap discussions.
- 7+ years of experience in security architecture, cybersecurity consulting, or application security leadership.
- Strong consultative and advisory skills with the ability to influence executives and technical teams.
- Expertise in secure design principles, application and cloud security, and DevSecOps strategies.
- Experience with modern cloud and container technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Strong understanding of identity and access management (SAML, federation).
- Skilled communicator who can simplify complex security concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field prefered.
- Certifications such as CISSP, GWEB, CSSLP, GPEN, CRISC, or OSWE are highly valued.
