Senior Vulnerability Researcher, Offensive Cyber (Active TS/SCI)
St. Petersburg, FL | Melbourne, FL | San Antonio, TX (on-site)
About the Company
A defense and intelligence technology company supporting U.S. Government and select international cyber customers. The offensive cyber division is roughly 80 people focused entirely on exploitation development, vulnerability research, and CNO development in support of national security missions. No defensive or SOC work here. The team is in a major growth phase and structured so senior researchers work under a VR lead with coaches supporting small pods of engineers, meaning real autonomy paired with technical mentorship.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead vulnerability research across operating systems, kernels, firmware, hypervisors, embedded platforms, and complex application stacks
- Independently scope ambiguous or underexplored attack surfaces and drive research from hypothesis to validated finding
- Perform deep reverse engineering and in memory analysis of compiled binaries across x86/x64, ARM, and PowerPC
- Design and execute novel exploitation techniques, including mitigation bypass work against ASLR, DEP/NX, and CFI
- Analyze undocumented system behavior and build internal tooling to support ongoing research
- Mentor other engineers and help shape technical direction and research quality across the team
Qualifications
- 6+ years of hands-on vulnerability research or exploit development experience
- Offensive cyber engineering background: VR, exploit dev, or CNO development. Building, not operating or defending
- Track record of independently scoped research from ambiguous attack surface to validated finding
- Deep reverse engineering and OS/kernel internals mastery, comfortable in both static and dynamic binary analysis
- Strong C/C++ and Python for exploit development and tooling
- Experience with fuzzing frameworks, symbolic execution, IDA Pro or Ghidra, and constraint solving
- Specialized target exposure a plus: hypervisors, embedded/RTOS, mobile, networking/wireless stacks
- BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred
- CVEs, publications, conference talks, or CTF wins are a strong signal
