DHL Data & AI is a service line in DHL Group, focusing on leveraging data to create business value. It consists of a dynamic, innovative, and globally diverse team with approximately 100 talented professionals, including Data Engineers, Cloud Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Data Scientists, and Architects. With presences in Germany and Italy, Bonn serves as DHL Data & AI’s headquarters. The team’s purpose is to unleash the power of data science, drive x-Business Unit AI solutions, foster a data-driven culture, and accelerate digitalization within DHLGroup. As part of its work, the team is responsible for creating and maintaining robust data platforms and data pipelines to ensure accurate and efficient data processing and analysis. The team embraces diversity with over 20 nationalities represented and a 30% female workforce, fostering collaboration and the pursuit of excellence.

Your tasks:

You will provide direction, oversight, and execution guidance, and you will influence security for DHL Group cloud solutions provided by the DHL Data & AI service line. You will collaborate with other teams, e.g. information security experts of IT service providers, security business services engineering, or risk and compliance management to advise business customers with security technology roadmaps, architecture, and standards to support the IT security of the DHL Group. In your functional role you will report to the DHL IT Group Functions CISO.

What You Will Do

• Develop and maintain security governance processes and documentation in the context of building and operating advanced data processing platforms and applications for DHL.
• Drive the security strategy and roadmap of DHL Data & AI.
• Advise, communicate, and facilitate risk management decisions across a wide range of stakeholders at different organizational levels. Translate security into business impact.
• Provide guidance on the creation of Information Security Concepts (ISC) for custom on-premises, Azure, and GCP-based services and applications developed by DHL Data & AI.
• Assess and translate complex technical topics from a security perspective, ensuring alignment with the CISO organization.
• Consult on vulnerability management processes, including identification, assessment, and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
• Evaluate the overall security posture of existing and newly developed applications and coordinate alignment on control implementation and risk mitigation with the CISO organization.
• Provide advisory support on the implementation of security controls in GCP and Azure cloud environments.
• Shape and guide security practices within the context of Kubernetes platforms, cloud environments, modern application development, and AI-driven solutions.
• Advise on the selection and implementation of tools and systems that support information security initiatives.
• Participate in architecture and go-live reviews, ensuring that security requirements are adequately addressed.

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Approximately 10 years of hands-on experience in enterprise security architecture, including Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC), Kubernetes runtime security, and container security.
• Strong understanding of software development processes and DevSecOps principles.
• Strong foundation in security principles and industry frameworks such as CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001, NIST, BSI, as well as OWASP best practices and threat modeling.
• A critical and analytical mindset.
• Deep knowledge of current security technologies, along with awareness of emerging trends in the IT landscape.
• Proven experience working in international environments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging diverse groups including senior leadership, technical experts, business stakeholders, end users, and vendors.
• Excellent ability to clearly explain complex security topics and persuasive communication to continuously drive improvement, evolution, and adoption of security practices.
• A forward-thinking, security-first mindset with a focus on automation and standardization.
• Fluency in English; German language skills are a plus.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of vulnerability management strategies and experience implementing SSDLC automation using tools such as GitHub Actions, Prisma Cloud, Checkov, SBOM, and related DevSecOps tooling.
• Experience working with policy-as-code solutions such as OPA Gatekeeper or Kyverno.
