Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
Reporting to the GM Hospitality – Auckland, you will be responsible for the overall security strategy and operation for SkyCity Auckland, leading a team of approximately 100 security professionals through a leadership group of experienced managers and specialists. You'll oversee a budget of approximately $9M and drive an intelligence-led security model that protects our people, guests, assets, and brand.
This role extends beyond traditional security management. You'll be at the forefront of harm minimisation, emergency preparedness, crisis response, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring SkyCity remains a safe and welcoming environment for all.
- Developing and delivering a contemporary security strategy aligned with business objectives and enterprise risk frameworks.
- Leading all security operations across gaming, hospitality, hotels, Sky Tower and NZICC.
- Driving continuous improvement through innovation, data analytics, and emerging security technologies.
- Providing executive leadership during critical incidents and crisis events.
- Building strong partnerships with Police, emergency services, government agencies, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory, gaming, licensing, and security obligations.
- Leading investigations into sensitive and complex matters.
- Creating an engaged, high-performing and inclusive security culture where safety and wellbeing are paramount.
- Supporting major events, VIP and international delegate visits with robust security planning and execution.
You'll Bring
- 5–10+ years' experience leading large security teams within complex, multi-site or highly regulated environments.
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing security strategies and operational frameworks.
- Strong experience in investigations, emergency management, crisis response, and business continuity planning.
- Extensive knowledge of modern security systems, technologies, and risk management practices.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships across executive leadership teams, regulators, law enforcement, and external agencies.
- Understanding of gaming regulation and compliance requirements (highly desirable).
- Exceptional leadership capability with a track record of developing diverse, high-performing teams.
- A current Certificate of Approval (COA) or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
