About the Role

Napoleon/Lynx is seeking a 4D (4th Dimension) Business Application Developer & AI Integration Engineer to lead the modernization and long-term evolution of our mission-critical 4D business platform.

This enterprise application powers manufacturing, order processing, purchasing, inventory, receiving, invoicing, accounting, reporting, and other core business operations. As the primary technical owner, you will lead our migration from 4D v17 to v21, modernize the platform, and drive the secure integration of Anthropic Claude into our business systems.

AI—and specifically Anthropic Claude—is a core part of our technology strategy. You will design and implement secure integrations between Anthropic Claude (and other possible CRM tools) and our 4D platform to deliver AI-powered reporting, automation, and operational insights while ensuring enterprise-grade data accuracy, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

4D Development & Platform Ownership

• Serve as the primary technical owner of our custom 4D application.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy new features and enhancements.
• Maintain application performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Troubleshoot application, database, and performance issues.
• Establish development standards and maintain technical documentation.

Claude AI Integration & Modernization

• Design and implement secure integrations between 4D and Anthropic Claude using REST APIs and, where appropriate, Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Develop APIs that securely expose approved business data for AI-powered reporting, automation, and analysis.
• Validate AI-generated insights to ensure enterprise-grade accuracy, consistency, security, and reliability.
• Evaluate and implement AI capabilities that enhance software development and business operations.

Platform Modernization

• Lead the migration from 4D v17 to v21 with minimal business disruption.
• Modernize legacy code needed while preserving system stability and business continuity.
• Define the long-term technical roadmap for the platform.
• Implement modern development practices and architectural improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise developing and modernizing enterprise applications using 4D (4th Dimension), including legacy platform upgrades.
• Experience integrating enterprise AI platforms, including Anthropic Claude, using REST APIs, prompt engineering, and secure AI development practices.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, application architecture, SQL, JSON, REST APIs, and enterprise system integration.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaborate across technical and business teams.
