About the Role:

We are currently recruiting a Backend-Leaning Full Stack Engineer on behalf of an innovative technology company based in New York. This role is suited to someone who enjoys building products from scratch, taking ownership of features, and working in a small, fast-paced engineering team. You'll mainly focus on backend development while also contributing to the frontend when needed, helping shape both the product and its technical direction.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Take ownership of features from design through to deployment, working across both backend and frontend when needed.
• Build secure and scalable applications, including authentication, access management, and database design.
• Develop distributed, event-driven systems using modern technologies.
• Work closely with the engineering team to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Contribute to technical decisions and help shape the platform architecture.
• Build and maintain cloud-based applications using AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and related technologies.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3–9 years of professional experience in software engineering with a strong backend focus.
• Experience owning features from design through to deployment.

Required Skills:

• Strong experience developing backend applications and designing scalable APIs.
• Good understanding of database design, authentication, authorization, and role-based access control.
• Experience working with distributed or event-driven systems using Kafka or similar technologies.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-based environments.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL.
• Comfortable working across the full stack, with a strong focus on backend development.
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a small engineering team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to software development.
