Software Engineer

Location: Durham, NC | Boston, MA

We are seeking a seasoned software engineer experienced in full-stack web development and data-intensive systems. In this role, you will be a key member of a small engineering team owning our web application and the services and data pipelines that power it. You will bring strong product intuition, set technical direction and collaborate closely with the rest of the team across data science, operations and sales.

Responsibilities:

• Build and ship customer-facing features on our web application
• Design and deploy scalable data systems to ingest, process, store and serve solar site data and weather data
• Improve observability of our systems - logging, monitoring, and alerting
• Improve internal tooling for data exploration and analysis
• Leverage AI coding tools to improve outcomes with appropriate guardrails
• Define best engineering practices, contribute to documentation and mentor teammates

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of software engineer experience with a track record of shipping production systems and features that customers love
• Ownership across the full software life cycle: collecting requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring
• Proven track record across modern webstacks (React, Typescript, Python)
• Built microservices or service-oriented architectures
• Skilled in data modeling, warehousing and working with relational and time-series data
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, SAM)
• Thrive wearing many hats in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup
• Product-focused: validate ideas early and collect evidence for what to build
