Software Engineer

We're hiring on behalf of a Haystack partner!

The Role

• Take end-to-end responsibility for selected modules of a long-established, Uniface-based practice information system, delivering high-quality changes for daily use in thousands of practices.

• Modernize and refactor existing Uniface codebases, enhancing maintainability and stabilizing critical workflows in outpatient care.

• Collaborate closely with architecture and AI teams to integrate Uniface modules with modern Java/Quarkus services and AI-driven workflows, connecting the system with healthcare network components and the broader digital health ecosystem.

• Utilize AI code assistants and agents to accelerate code analysis, refactoring, and documentation, feeding insights back into the team.

• Actively contribute to the long-term evolution strategy of the system, balancing reliable delivery with progressive platform modernization.

What You'll Need

• Several years of senior-level experience in Uniface development, ideally with business-critical, long-lived, high-availability applications.

• A university degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical field with excellent academic performance.

• Deep understanding of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and Uniface deployment and integration patterns.

• Proficient in version control, build, and delivery processes; effective use of AI tools in software engineering, including AI pipelines and context engineering.

• Fluent in both German and English, enabling confident communication in international settings and with German-speaking clients and stakeholders.
