About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the evolution and scalability of our platform, ensuring it can efficiently manage a growing network of parking facilities. Your responsibilities will include developing and refining core backend systems, optimizing deployment pipelines, enhancing system monitoring, and contributing to our engineering culture of excellence. You will work with modern technologies such as Python, NodeJS, Kubernetes, and AWS services to build robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, a passion for innovation, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key qualifications include:

• Deep expertise in one or more programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or C++, with a proven ability to adapt to new tools and frameworks quickly.
• Extensive experience with modern backend frameworks like NestJS, Flask, Fastify, or FastAPI, especially in production environments handling high throughput.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and cloud-native solutions.
• Hands-on experience with databases such as Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, and S3.
• Proficiency with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and serverless frameworks (AWS Lambda, Serverless Framework).
• Excellent communication skills in English (C1 level); German language skills are not required but are a plus.
• A track record of delivering high-quality, scalable production solutions and a mindset geared towards continuous improvement.

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Peter Park System GmbH, your core responsibilities will include:

• Architecting, developing, and continuously refining our core backend systems that serve both B2B and B2C customers, ensuring robustness and scalability.
• Optimizing and enhancing CI/CD pipelines for backend and IoT systems to enable fully automated, reliable, and rapid deployment cycles.
• Implementing and improving system monitoring capabilities using tools like Datadog to proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring high system availability.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design scalable solutions that can efficiently manage thousands of parking lots across multiple regions.
• Promoting engineering best practices, including clean code, comprehensive testing, and modern development methodologies, to foster a culture of excellence.
• Engaging in technical discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to elevate the overall quality of the engineering team.
• Contributing to the design and implementation of infrastructure using Terraform and managing container orchestration with Kubernetes, Keda, and Karpenter.
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, security, and maintainability.
