Overview
We are seeking a Senior AI Application / HMI Developer to build the user-facing and assistant-intelligence components of an aftermarket In-Cab AI Assistant platform for heavy equipment. The solution includes voice-first interaction, a secondary display, grounded Q&A, guided navigation of existing machine functions, and connected-device capabilities such as OTA updates, logging, and diagnostics. This role focuses on assistant behavior, content grounding, UI/HMI implementation, and integration of voice and visual workflows within defined safety and system boundaries.
Responsibilities
· Design, develop, and maintain the assistant application and HMI components for the in-cab platform.
· Implement grounded Q&A and guided workflows using approved content sources and defined guardrails.
· Build user-facing experiences for the secondary display, including visual support for voice-first interactions.
· Integrate assistant logic with machine-scoped data, diagnostics, and existing machine navigation flows.
· Support integration of voice, audio, and multimodal interaction patterns.
· Contribute to assistant quality, response behavior, error handling, and degraded/offline user experiences.
· Develop automated tests and support integration, system, and validation activities.
· Collaborate with the Architect, embedded developers, QA, and TPM to deliver working software increments and release-ready builds.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
· 5+ years of experience in software development, including experience building user-facing applications.
· Experience developing AI-enabled applications, preferably assistant, search, or RAG-style systems. LLM deployment and optimization/inference.
· Experience building frontend or HMI applications for device, industrial, automotive, or embedded environments.
· Experience integrating applications with backend services, APIs, or device-side data sources.
· Familiarity with prompt design, grounding strategies, response guardrails, and assistant behavior design.
· Experience with automated testing and software quality practices.
· Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with voice-enabled systems, including ASR, TTS, or multimodal interaction workflows.
· Experience building applications for secondary displays, in-vehicle systems, industrial HMIs, or operator-facing products.
· Familiarity with machine, vehicle, or industrial data integration.
· Experience in heavy equipment, automotive, industrial IoT, robotics, or connected machinery.
· Experience with offline/degraded mode design and performance-sensitive edge applications.
· Familiarity with logging, diagnostics, OTA-connected products, or field-deployed systems.
· Experience working with technical documentation, service content, fault codes, or similar grounded knowledge sources.
