As a COBOL Developer, you will maintain and modernize mission-critical applications on IBM mainframe systems. You will serve as a key technical resource for ensuring the stability and evolution of core business logic within large-scale enterprise environments.
What You'll Do
- Design, code, test, and debug COBOL programs for both batch and online CICS processing.
- Maintain and optimize data access using DB2, VSAM, and JCL to ensure high performance and data integrity.
- Analyze existing legacy code and documentation to identify modernization opportunities and refactoring needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe applications with contemporary cloud-native architectures.
- Provide expert production support, including root-cause analysis and remediation for mission-critical systems.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies to deliver high-quality software updates and contribute to engineering standards.
- 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a focus on mainframe environments.
- Proven expertise in developing and maintaining applications using COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
- Strong proficiency in JCL, VSAM, and mainframe batch/online processing.
- Hands-on experience with IBM mainframe systems within banking, insurance, or government sectors.
- Experience in modernizing legacy COBOL applications to contemporary standards.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
