Software Engineer Technical Lead/Manager

Whitaker IT is representing a growing organization in the Bryan / College Station area that is expanding its software engineering leadership team.

This opportunity is ideal for a senior engineer, technical lead, or lead developer who enjoys mentoring others, driving technical initiatives, and partnering across teams while remaining hands-on with technology.

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of software engineering experience in modern application development environments
• Experience mentoring developers, leading projects, or serving as a technical resource for a team
• Strong background with Python and modern web application frameworks
• Frontend experience with React and/or Next.js
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Exposure to cloud-native environments and infrastructure technologies
• Ability to balance technical execution with collaboration across engineering and business stakeholders
• Comfortable helping establish processes, improve team effectiveness, and drive project delivery
• Interest in growing into broader leadership responsibilities over time

Preferred Experience

• FastAPI and/or Django
• AWS
• Terraform
• Docker and Kubernetes
• CI/CD and automated deployment practices
• Modern API development and distributed systems
