Senior Software Engineer - Service Now

- Design, develop, and maintain ServiceNow solutions, including Service Catalog items, record producers, Flow Designer workflows, and task orchestration.
- Implement multi-step workflows with routing, approvals, SLAs, and task dependencies in alignment with established platform patterns.
- Contribute to the development of modular, reusable, catalog-driven solutions to support scalability and consistency across the platform.
- Own delivery of features and enhancements within the ServiceNow platform, ensuring quality, completeness, and adherence to requirements.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers, including support on ServiceNow development, debugging, and workflow implementation.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing sessions to promote best practices and continuous improvement.
- Apply established ServiceNow development standards, including scripting best practices (server/client), naming conventions, and configuration management.
- Configure and maintain approval rules, assignment group routing, and task lifecycle processes aligned to defined workflows.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and Business Analysts to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Support the refinement of workflows to ensure clear task ownership, proper routing, and accurate execution of downstream activities.
- Contribute to workflow and process improvements, identifying opportunities to streamline manual steps and improve user experience.
- Assist in the design and implementation of integrations with external systems (e.g., Jira, internal APIs) as part of broader solutions.
- Validate functionality through testing and troubleshooting, ensuring workflows execute as intended across environments.
- Ensure solutions align with SDLC practices, deployment processes, and environment promotion standards.
- Monitor and support workflow execution and operational performance, addressing issues and improving reliability over time.
- Document solutions, configurations, and patterns to support team knowledge and maintainability.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and technical decisions effectively to team members and stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and engineering quality.
- Associate’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ systems analysis and/or application development work experience or Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/or application development work experience. In lieu of degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/or application development work experience
- Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language and hands-on experience with ServiceNow development, including server-side and client-side scripting
- Hands-on experience developing solutions in the ServiceNow platform, including Service Catalog items, record producers, and Flow Designer workflows
- Experience implementing workflow-based solutions, including approvals, task routing, SLAs, and lifecycle management
- Working knowledge of ServiceNow data model, tables, forms, and relationships
- Experience with source control, versioning, and CI/CD or promotion processes aligned to SDLC practices
- Ability to independently analyze and translate technical and business requirements into scalable and maintainable solutions
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills within ServiceNow or similar platforms
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills specific to application development and workflow automation
- Experience working in a collaborative Agile or team-based development environment
- Ability to work autonomously while managing multiple priorities and complex deliverables
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experience designing or contributing to scalable workflow-based solutions and process automation
- Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems (e.g., APIs, Jira, cloud platforms)
- Familiarity with ServiceNow platform capabilities beyond core development (e.g., reporting, performance analytics, platform governance)
- Exposure to best practices for workflow design, catalog-driven development, and reusable component patterns
