Senior Application Developer – Charles River Development (CRD)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Application Developer to join a high-performing technology team supporting a sophisticated investment management environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on developer with experience in portfolio management systems, and enterprise application development.
You will leverage your technical expertise and investment industry knowledge to design, develop, integrate, and enhance solutions that support portfolio management, trading, optimization, compliance, and trade operations. Working closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Technology leaders, you will play a key role in advancing mission-critical investment platforms and automation initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of CRD enhancements, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Configure and customize Charles River Manager Workbench and Central Workbench layouts, workflows, business rules, and result sets.
- Develop and support integrations utilizing the Charles River API Framework, including both frontend and backend APIs.
- Build and maintain RESTful API integrations, services, and automation workflows across investment platforms.
- Partner with Portfolio Engineering teams to support portfolio optimization and investment decision-making processes.
- Support trading, implementation, guideline monitoring, and portfolio management workflows across equities and fixed income.
- Ensure operational readiness and stability of CRD environments, including start-of-day processes and ongoing monitoring.
- Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications, user stories, workflow diagrams, and interface documentation.
- Collaborate in Agile development environments to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.
Technical Expertise
Successful candidates will bring experience in:
- Advanced SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning
- Java and/or C# application development
- Python programming and automation
- REST API design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting
- Enterprise systems integration and service-oriented architectures
- Agile software development methodologies
- Preferred Industry Experience
- Charles River Development (CRD) implementation, customization, and support
- Order Management System (OMS) configuration and administration
- OMS batch automation, monitoring, and exception management
- Charles River API Framework (frontend and backend)
- Investment management, asset management, or wealth management environments
- Trading workflows, portfolio management, and trade operations
- Portfolio optimization concepts including risk models, constraints, exposures, and transaction cost analysis
- Experience with optimization and risk analytics platforms such as Axioma and OMEGA Point
- Qualifications
- 10+ years of application development experience
- 5+ years of experience within investment management, wealth management, or financial services technology
- 5+ years of Python development experience
- 3+ years of experience implementing, configuring, or supporting Charles River Development or comparable Order Management Systems
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
