Senior Backend Engineer

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who wants to influence architecture, product quality, and engineering decisions — not just write code. This role is about ownership, scalability, and solving complex integration challenges.

What you will work on

• Designing and developing the core of our payment gateway and backend services for the travel domain (bookings, tickets, tours).
• Building and evolving APIs for booking flows, ticket processing, and travel services.
• Integrating with:
• banks and payment providers,
• airlines and GDS systems,
• external services with different SLA levels and API quality.
• Participating in architecture decisions around:
• scalability,
• fault tolerance,
• error handling and edge-case processing.
• Working with asynchronous workflows, queues, and background jobs.
• Supporting engineering culture through:
• testing,
• CI/CD,
• logging and monitoring,
• technical documentation.
• Collaborating closely with product managers, analysts, frontend engineers, and UX teams.

What is important for us

• 2+ years of commercial backend development experience with Python.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI, asynchronous programming, and Pydantic.
• Strong understanding of and practical experience with:
• Celery and background task processing,
• message brokers such as RabbitMQ,
• Redis.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL:
• transactions,
• indexing,
• query optimization,
• migrations.
• Experience designing and supporting REST APIs and third-party integrations.
• Ability to write tests using Pytest and maintain code quality standards.
• Experience working with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of software architecture principles such as SOLID, DRY, and separation of concerns.
• Strong engineering mindset and willingness to take ownership of outcomes, not just implementation.
