Role Definition


We are seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer with 6+ years in IT operations or application support, ideally within banking or financial services. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring the stability, readiness, and reliability of critical application environments across Development, SIT, UAT, and non-production systems. You’ll operate within a structured, high-integrity environment where precision, compliance, and client confidentiality are paramount.

This is a unique chance to grow your skills using modern observability tools, automation practices, and agile delivery models, all while contributing to mission-critical banking operations rooted in Swiss excellence.


Key Responsibilities


  • Support environment setup, maintenance, and validation across Dev, SIT, UAT, and pre-production systems to ensure operational readiness.
  • Perform routine system checks, log reviews, and health verifications to proactively detect and address potential issues.
  • Continuously monitor application availability dashboards using tools to identify outages or performance degradation.
  • Oversee batch job processing including monitoring start-of-day and end-of-day (COB) cycles for successful completion.
  • Respond promptly to incidents and system alerts, perform initial diagnostics, and escalate to senior engineers when required.
  • Assist in database refresh activities, including coordination with DBAs, executing data masking routines, and performing post-refresh validation.
  • Log, track, and manage incidents, changes, and tasks using Ticketing & ITSM tools , ensuring compliance with ITIL processes.
  • Support deployment activities through CI/CD pipelines and verifying deployment success and rollbacks.
  • Maintain and regularly update technical documentation, runbooks, and knowledge bases in Confluence to ensure accurate and accessible information.
  • Participate in incident resolution bridging and contribute to Root Cause Analysis (RCA) by providing logs, event timelines, and diagnostic findings.
  • Follow and apply ITIL-aligned practices for Incident, Problem, and Change Management across daily operations.
  • Demonstrate foundational awareness of containerized environments, including monitoring container health and retrieving logs for troubleshooting.
  • Leverage scripting skills to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Work effectively within distributed, multi-vendor teams, communicating clearly in English, and aligning efforts with business and technical stakeholders.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Possess 6+ years of experience in Application Support within enterprise IT environments
  • Experience in monitoring application availability via dashboards and health checks — using tools like Dynatrace, Grafana, or custom portals — to proactively detect outages or performance degradation.
  • exposure to complex IT landscapes, preferably in the banking or financial services sector, with understanding of regulatory, security, and operational rigor.
  • Practical experience supporting applications across various lifecycle stages — Development, SIT, UAT, and Production-like environments — ensuring stability and readiness.
  • knowledge of ITIL processes, particularly Incident, Problem, and Change Management, with demonstrated use in day-to-day operations.
  • Familiarity with batch-driven operations and scheduling tools such as UC4 or Atomic AWA, including monitoring job flows and identifying failures.
  • Proficient in using enterprise tools for support operations such as Jira , Service now ,Confluence ,GitLab, Octopus
  • Technical comfort with operating systems: Linux/Unix and Windows (command-line operations, log inspection, file permissions).
  • Basic understanding of database technologies (Oracle, MS SQL) — ability to run queries, check session status, and assist during DB refreshes cycles.
  • Foundational awareness of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (K8s), particularly in monitoring and supporting container-hosted applications.
  • Experience working in collaborative, distributed teams across time zones, vendors, and disciplines; ability to communicate clearly and follow structured processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and root cause identification.
  • Excellent communication abilities, with fluency in English (professional proficiency) — essential for interacting with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of core banking systems – experience with Temenos Transact (T24) is a strong advantage, though not mandatory.
