Your role, your impact

As a Patch Engineer (Linux + Middleware Focus), you’ll play a critical role in supporting enterprise patch management operations across Linux environments within a compliance-driven, high-velocity infrastructure environment. You’ll leverage your expertise in Linux administration, Ansible Tower (AAP2), patch automation, and middleware technologies to execute patching activities, expand automation coverage, and maintain compliance across server portfolios.

Your ability to execute patch operations, troubleshoot automation issues, support middleware onboarding, and collaborate across infrastructure and application teams will directly contribute to operational stability, security compliance, and continuous improvement of enterprise patch management processes.

Your day-to-day

• Execute patch lifecycle operations across assigned Linux server portfolios, including scheduling, patch deployment, validation, and compliance tracking;
• Support patch management activities across internet-facing and DMZ environments;
• Execute and support Ansible Tower (AAP2) automation, including playbook execution, troubleshooting failures, and supporting remediation activities;
• Assist in expanding Ansible automation coverage across Linux environments and DMZ servers;
• Perform manual patching activities where automation is not yet available while ensuring zero backlog accumulation;
• Support application onboarding into patch automation frameworks;
• Collaborate with application teams to integrate middleware platforms and dependencies such as JBoss, Oracle Database, and related technologies into automated patching workflows;
• Maintain patching coverage, compliance tracking, and remediation activities across assigned server inventories;
• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and application teams to resolve dependency blockers and operational issues;
• Contribute to playbook development and continuous improvement of patch automation frameworks;
• Support vulnerability remediation initiatives and compliance-driven patch management programs.

Keys to your success

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Ansible / Ansible Tower (AAP2), including playbook execution and development within production environments;
• Strong Linux expertise with RHEL and enterprise Linux distributions, including OS patching and system administration;
• 3+ years of enterprise patch management operations experience supporting production environments;
• Practical working knowledge of middleware platforms including JBoss, Oracle Database, or equivalent technologies gained through real-world delivery experience;
• Hands-on experience with enterprise patching tools such as HPSA, SCCM, or equivalent solutions;
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within a dual-track model supporting both automated and manual patching activities without backlog accumulation;
• Working understanding of change management and ITSM processes within regulated enterprise environments;
• Strong execution discipline with the ability to deliver against defined timelines with minimal supervision;
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills;
• Ability to proactively identify risks, blockers, and remediation approaches;
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills;
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to manage compliance tracking, remediation progress, and operational accountability across assigned server portfolios.

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA);
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE);
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation;
• CompTIA Security+ certification;
• Oracle Certified Associate (OCA);
• Experience supporting compliance-driven environments and vulnerability remediation programs;
• Experience working with middleware-aware patching activities involving Oracle Database dependencies.
