About this role:
We are seeking a visionary, highly experienced Principal DevSecOps Engineer and Technical Leader to architect, secure, and scale our mission-critical software delivery platforms. In this senior leadership role, you will define the overarching DevSecOps strategy, driving the convergence of robust software development, automated operations, and stringent military-grade security compliance.
You will serve as a primary technical authority across the organization, mentoring engineering teams, establishing product-wide security paradigms, and ensuring our tactical edge solutions are resilient, secure, and rapidly deployable across diverse airborne, maritime, and ground environments.
This is a hands on technical leadership position that will play a key role in defining, communicating, and implementing Fuse DevSecOps practices.
What you'll do:
- Technical Leadership & Strategy: Define the vision for DevSecOps, cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, govcloud), automated delivery pipelines, and Fuse's platform operating systems and utlities
- Security Architecture & Hardening: Lead the architectural design for automated container hardening, policy-driven operating system security (e.g., SELinux), SBOM generation and management, and continuous monitoring
- Enterprise CI/CD & Orchestration: Architect, scale, and optimize enterprise-grade CI/CD frameworks utilizing GitLab CI, Ansible, Podman/Docker, Kubernetes, and RPM package management systems
- Governance & Process Enforcement: Establish, maintain, and enforce rigorous Software Development Processes and secure coding governance frameworks across all concurrent engineering projects
- Security Integration: Direct the integration and automation of advanced Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST), Software Composition Analysis (SCA), and code metrics tooling
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Project Management, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, and executive leadership to align infrastructure and product capabilities with sprint schedules and mission-critical release targets
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the architecture and resilience of on-premises infrastructure (Jira, GitLab, vCenter/vSphere/ESXi environments, GNS3, etc) and the development networks
- Innovation & AI Adaptation: Evaluate and introduce emerging pipeline methodologies, including the strategic integration of AI tools within CI/CD pipelines to optimize efficiency and software quality
- Mentorship: Act as a technical mentor all engineering levels, fostering a culture of high performance, security mindfulness, and continuous learning
- Education: B.S. or higher in an engineering field (Computer, Software, Math, Physics, Electrical, or related technical discipline)
- Experience: 12+ years of progressive experience in DevSecOps or software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a dedicated technical leadership or architectural role focused on DevSecOps
- Software Development Expertise: Strong proficiency in a strongly typed language (preferably C++) for developing, reviewing, and auditing complex software systems, complemented by extensive scripting capabilities in Python and Bash
- Containerization & Orchestration at Scale: Proven track record of architecting and managing production-grade container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes) in disconnected/degraded/decentralized environments
- Linux Mastery: Deep expert-level knowledge of Linux operating systems (RHEL, Ubuntu) and low-level Linux networking, network architecture, and advanced troubleshooting
- Compliance & Government Standards: Deep familiarity with building software systems subject to national security requirements, including hands-on experience with STIG compliance, continuous monitoring, and security auditing tools
- Agile Frameworks: Extensive experience driving technical execution within Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Implement enterprise-wide observability frameworks: Experience implementing metrics, logs, tracing and other telemetry across complex microservices to rapidly isolate failure modes in both on-prem and cloud environments
- Clearance & Citizenship: * US Citizen
- Active US Secret or Top Secret clearance
- Experience with zero-trust architectures
- Experience with Linux installation automation using utilities such as Kickstart or Subiquity
- Advanced certifications in Cloud (AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer Professional) and/or Security (CISSP, CSSLP, Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist)
- Experience with automated infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using advanced Ansible playbooks
- Hands-on experience implementing AI-driven code analysis or automated testing utilities into continuous integration pipelines
Salary: $155,000 - $200,000
