In this role, you’ll work closely with the Cyber Security Manager and broader ICT team to strengthen system defences, ensure compliance with Australian standards, and support the day-to-day operations of Serco’s security framework. Your work will directly support the delivery of safe, reliable, and secure digital services that enable high-quality patient care.
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Implementing and managing advanced security systems such as firewalls, SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability management solution and proxies
- Integrating and maintaining security tools across on-premises and cloud platforms
- Identifying and implementing changes to optimise the incumbent security solutions to maximise the value of these investments
- Ensuring compliance with ACSC Essential 8, ASD ISM, and other governance standards
- Embedding security into applications and cloud environments through the development lifecycle
- Supporting Security Analysts to strengthen overall SOC capability and be the escalation point of contact.
- Collaborating with IT, network, and development teams to deliver secure, resilient solutions
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of Serco’s cybersecurity governance framework
- Cloud Security Certifications are required
- Deep understanding of firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection technologies
- Experience in cyber security, vulnerability management, and identifying risks and their mitigation strategies.
- Experience with Network Identity and Access Management tools is highly desirable.
- Understanding of governance frameworks, NIST 2.0 CSF, ASD ISM, ACSC Essential 8, ISO27001.
- Certifications in security toolsets are preferred
- ITIL Foundation Certification and/or CCNA Security - preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment and support on-call operations as required.
