Reliability Engineer (Monitoring & Observability)

We are currently looking for a Reliability Engineer (Monitoring & Observability) to join a major player in the Belgian energy landscape. In this role, you will contribute to building a reliable, scalable, and sustainable infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and observability of on-premises systems within a critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain monitoring and observability infrastructure.
- Develop custom dashboards, alerts, and visualization solutions using modern tools.
- Implement distributed tracing and log aggregation systems.
- Define and establish monitoring best practices, including SLI/SLO frameworks.
- Ensure security compliance of monitoring tools in an on-premises environment.
- Automate deployment and configuration management processes.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to improve application instrumentation.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability across services.
- Participate in on-duty rotations (24/7 incident support).
- Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, processes, and reliability practices.
Your Profile
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in monitoring and observability.
- At least 2+ years of hands-on experience with Grafana and Prometheus in production environments.
- Strong expertise in Linux system administration and networking.
- Experience with on-premises infrastructure and security practices.
- Proficiency in tools and technologies such as:
- Grafana
- Prometheus (PromQL)
- OpenTelemetry
- Elasticsearch
- Programming skills in Python, Bash, or Go (automation-focused).
- Solid understanding of enterprise security and compliance requirements.
- Ability to balance technical decisions with business priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Fluent in English (C1); Dutch, French, or German are a plus.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation (24/7 support).
