Infrastructure Administrator – VMware, Windows & Linux

About the Role -- We are looking for a skilled Infrastructure Administrator with hands-on experience in VMware virtualization, Windows Server administration, Linux system administration, automation, enterprise storage, backup solutions, and server hardware management. The ideal candidate should possess strong troubleshooting skills and experience managing business-critical infrastructure environments across virtualization, operating systems, storage, backup, and automation platforms.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, upgrade, patch, and troubleshoot VMware ESXi 8.x/9.x and vCenter environments.
- Manage virtual machines, templates, snapshots, cloning (Hot/Cold), P2V migrations, Storage vMotion, and vMotion activities.
- Create and manage VMware clusters, High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), and lifecycle management activities.
- Configure and manage virtual networking, VMkernel adapters, virtual switches, distributed switches, port groups, and VMFS datastores.
- Perform capacity planning, resource optimization, and support VMware infrastructure expansion initiatives.
- Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8/9 environments.
- Manage Linux subscriptions, repositories, and patching using Red Hat Satellite and Capsule.
- Administer Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 environments.
- Provision, manage, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux virtual machines and supporting infrastructure services.
- Develop and maintain automation using Ansible (Playbooks, Roles, and Configuration Management).
- Create and maintain automation scripts using Bash and/or PowerShell.
- Monitor system performance, analyze logs, and perform performance tuning and optimization across VMware, Windows, and Linux platforms.
- Support enterprise backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity operations.
- Manage server hardware, RAID configurations, firmware upgrades, storage allocation, and LUN provisioning.
- Administer and monitor HPE server infrastructure using HPE iLO, HPE OneView, and HPE iLO Amplifier Pack.
- Utilize VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator (vRO) for workflow automation and infrastructure orchestration.
- Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, virtualization, storage, backup, networking, and performance-related issues.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and support incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, runbooks, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business-critical infrastructure environments.
- Ensure infrastructure security, compliance, resilience, and operational excellence standards are maintained.
Qualifications
Education: B.E./B.Tech Preferred; B.Sc. (IT) with strong technical knowledge and excellent communication skills.
Required Skills
VMware & Virtualization
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion, VMFS, distributed virtual switches, and VMware infrastructure administration.
- Experience with VMware Lifecycle Manager (vLCM).
- Experience with VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator (vRO) is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with VM provisioning, snapshots, cloning, migrations, upgrades, patching, and VMware troubleshooting.
Linux Administration
- Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.
- Experience with Red Hat Satellite and Capsule for subscription and patch management.
- Knowledge of Linux performance tuning, troubleshooting, and system optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible automation and configuration management.
- Working knowledge of Bash scripting.
Windows Administration
- Good knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Windows Server troubleshooting.
- Experience troubleshooting Windows performance issues, registry-related problems, and Blue Screen analysis.
- Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
Infrastructure & Storage
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery processes.
- Good understanding of SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, and enterprise storage technologies.
- Experience with storage management, RAID configuration, firmware management, and LUN provisioning.
- Strong knowledge of HPE server hardware, HPE iLO, HPE OneView, and HPE iLO Amplifier Pack.
General Skills
- Experience with monitoring and log management tools.
- Exposure to ITIL-based support environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
