Position Overview


Supporting the AECC project, the Platform Network Engineer develops and maintains the Kubernetes-based network architecture for the US Army. This role focuses on a software-defined infrastructure utilizing CNI plugins (Calico, Cilium) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision network foundations for multitenant hosting across global sites.

Mandatory Certifications



  • Baseline: Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II

  • Computing Environment: Must obtain a certification (Cisco DCNX, PCNSE, CKA, or Red Hat OpenShift) within 6 months of hire


Key Responsibilities



  • Architecture Maintenance: Work with Government engineers to develop and maintain the AECC Kubernetes-based networking architecture.

  • Infrastructure as Code: Deploy and maintain IaC pipelines for automated network provisioning and configuration management.

  • Network Administration: Perform daily patching and upgrading of Kubernetes networking components like CNI plugins.

  • Health Monitoring: Monitor network resource health and utilization, providing troubleshooting and root cause analysis for hosting platform issues.


Required Technical Skills



  • Kubernetes Networking: Expertise in CNI plugins (Calico, Cilium), service discovery, ingress controllers, and DNS management.

  • Automation: Strong proficiency in Ansible, Terraform, and scripting (Python/Bash).

  • Enterprise Protocols: Knowledge of mTLS, service mesh, and standard routing protocols.


Preferred Skills & Experience



  • DoD Standards: Working knowledge of DoD STIGs and the IAVM process.

  • Platform Familiarity: Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Rancher, or vanilla Kubernetes.
