Cloud Infrastructure & Security Engineer

About Arbrea Labs

Arbrea Labs is an ETH spin-off from the Computer Graphics Lab at ETH Zurich. We are a team of specialists in computer graphics, computer vision, physically based simulation, and artificial intelligence, building state-of-the-art AI, AR, and 3D tools for medical aesthetics and plastic surgery.

Our software lets surgeons and aesthetic doctors capture a patient with an iPad or iPhone and, in well under two minutes, generate a digital human avatar to pre-visualize potential outcomes for breast, facial, and body procedures — improving communication, trust, and patient satisfaction. Our products, including the Arbrea Suite, Arbrea Breast, Arbrea Face, Arbrea Body, and myArbrea, are used by leading clinics worldwide, and our new Arbrea 3.0 release brings them together into one seamless ecosystem.

Backed by world-class talent from ETH Zurich and Disney Research and supported by Innosuisse and Venturelab, we are looking to expand our team with key people who have strong technical skills and a real drive to learn and get involved in a start-up environment. We consider full-time candidates as well as interns who may transition fully into the team.

About The Role

As a Cloud Infrastructure & Security Engineer at Arbrea Labs, you will design and scale the cloud foundation of our 3D medical simulation platform, ensuring that our entire infrastructure remains resilient, compliant, and highly scalable as we expand globally.

This position is designed for a versatile engineer who thrives at the intersection of infrastructure, robust security, and emerging tech.

You will drive core initiatives, from building the rigorous compliance frameworks required for enterprise clients to prototyping intelligent AI-agent workflows. Serving as a technical anchor across our product engine, commercial growth operations, and enterprise stakeholders, you will safely evolve the systems that dictate our platform’s dependability.

Responsibilities

  • Co-Architect & Scale Cloud Infrastructure: Partner with technical leadership to design, build, and maintain secure, automated cloud environments and data processing pipelines for our core applications and enterprise clients.
  • Implement Advanced Security Controls: Execute on platform hardening strategies, protect endpoints, and ensure secure and encrypted data flows across mobile and cloud platforms.
  • Support Regulatory Compliance: Help translate global data privacy standards (such as GDPR and HIPAA) into technical infrastructure realities, maintaining compliance logs, and preparing the platform for formal security audits.
  • Build AI-Driven Automation: Prototype and deploy automated data pipelines and emerging LLM/agentic workflows to optimize customer engagement, streamline internal operations, and process large-scale web data.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Integration: Partner with product, growth, and commercial stakeholders to seamlessly integrate infrastructure compliance and automation tools into both our software ecosystem and business pipelines.
  • Cultivate Technical Agility: Learn quickly and adapt as our systems evolve, comfortably shifting gears between cloud automation, security hardening, and next-generation AI tooling.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Security Engineering, or a closely related role where you have built and maintained production systems.
  • Solid proficiency with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Security & Encryption Fundamentals: Clear understanding of modern cryptographic principles, key management, network security, and secure API design.
  • Compliance Exposure: Familiarity with data-privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2) and an understanding of how to implement their technical requirements.
  • Data Engineering & Automation: Strong programming skills in Python and TypeScript (or similar) with practical experience building automated data collection, utility scripting, and analytics/OLAP processing pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Willing to take ownership and be part of a rapidly growing venture.

Nice to Have

  • MedTech Background: Prior experience handling healthcare data or working within regulated digital health environments.
  • Production AI: Experience or strong interest in deploying, serving, and monitoring AI-based applications in production (including inference pipelines, RAG, and LLM prompt orchestration). Familiarity with LLMOps frameworks, vector databases, or building autonomous AI agents is a strong plus.
  • Advanced Web Scraping: Experience with large-scale data extraction and parsing structured information from the web.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to shape the security and compliance strategy of a leading AI company.
  • Flexible and innovation-driven work environment.
  • International team of highly skilled applied researchers and engineers.
  • Access to cutting-edge technologies and applied research projects.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
