What does a System Administrator do?
In This Position You Will Be
- A trusted technical resource and advanced escalation point for complex IT infrastructure issues across the organization.
- Administering and maintaining Windows Server and Linux environments to ensure reliability and performance.
- Managing Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Office 365 with advanced policy and compliance configurations.
- Diagnosing and resolving complex networking issues, including VPN, VLAN, subnetting, and firewall policies.
- Leveraging virtualization platforms to deploy, manage, and decommission virtual servers.
- Writing PowerShell scripts and automations to eliminate manual, repetitive tasks.
- Monitoring system health, responding to alerts, and proactively maintaining enterprise security and up time.
- Bridging the technical gap between Tier 1/2 helpdesk and senior IT leadership.
- Mentoring junior IT team members and contributing to technical documentation and SOPs.
- Participating in infrastructure upgrade, migration, and deployment projects.
What You Will Contribute
- Advanced troubleshooting expertise as the primary escalation point between Tier 1/2 support and senior IT staff.
- Hands-on management of enterprise servers, storage (SAN/NAS), and virtualization platforms.
- Automation of routine processes using PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting tools.
- Secure, reliable administration of cloud environments (Microsoft Azure) and on-premises systems.
- Implementation of security best practices, vulnerability remediation, and patch management.
- Technical leadership on infrastructure projects, including migrations, upgrades, and deployments.
- High-availability and disaster recovery testing to protect business continuity.
- Documentation of technical procedures and knowledge transfer to empower the broader IT team.
- Collaboration with network, security, cloud, and application teams on cross-functional initiatives.
- Administer and maintain Windows and Linux server environments.
- Manage and support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure solutions.
- Administer virtualization platforms.
- Manage cloud environments (Microsoft Azure).
- Configure and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Provide as an escalation point on complex tickets from Tier 1 and 2.
- Diagnose the underlying root cause.
- Investigate deep system logs, network architecture, and application configurations.
- Bridge the IT gap to other business units.
- Lead root cause analysis efforts for critical incidents and recurring problems.
- Proactively monitor and optimize enterprise systems.
- Manage virtualized servers and configure network load balancing.
- Test disaster recovery and backup systems routinely to ensure maximum uptime.
- Support high-availability and failover solutions for critical business systems.
- Perform capacity planning and infrastructure optimization to support business growth.
- Identify ways to eliminate repetitive and manual work.
- Write complex scripts, such as PowerShell, for Microsoft Entra environments.
- Automate routine diagnostics, patch management, desktop imaging, and application delivery.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar tools.
- Implement and enforce the overarching security strategies on the ground.
- Troubleshoot advanced connectivity issues and system outages.
- Audit directory structures and elevated permissions to maintain a secure environment.
- Implement security best practices, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening.
- Monitor and manage patching, updates, and lifecycle maintenance of infrastructure components.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, security requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Act as a technical leader and escalation point for the IT department.
- Mentor junior administrators, Tier 1 and Tier 2 Helpdesk, and analyze ticket escalation trends.
- Create technical documentation and standard operating procedures to empower lower tiers to solve problems independently.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend infrastructure improvements.

Required Skills, Experience & Abilities
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years managing Windows Server in a production environment.
- Five or more years of IT experience.
- Three or more years as a System Administrator or equivalent.
- Experience deploying or managing virtual machines in VMware (vCenter or ESXI).
- Experience providing advanced technical support and serving as an escalation point for complex IT issues.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving server, operating system, storage, virtualization, and network-related problems.
- Ability to proactively identify business needs, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues through creative problem solving.
- Experience establishing project timelines and detailing key milestones and tasks to achieve objectives.
- Experience administering and maintaining Windows and Linux server environments.
- One or more years of experience managing and supporting Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, or DHCP.
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise infrastructure solutions.
- Experience administering virtualization platforms.

- Ability to work Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm in the office three days per week and work remote two days per week. The first 6-12 months will be five days in the office per week for training purposes.
- Ability to drive for the company with a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass driving record background check.
- Ability to utilize personal vehicle for the majority of work travel AND ability to rent a car when requested by supervisor for work travel.
- Ability to independently travel domestically up to 10% of the time, including overnights.
- Ability to lift more than 30 lbs.

- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Five or more years of experience in an MSP (Managed Service Provider) environment with broad exposure to multiple client environments.
- Microsoft certifications (for example: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: or Enterprise Administrator Expert).
- CompTIA certifications (for example: Security+, Network+, and/or Server+).
- ERP experience that is relevant to this position.
- Experience managing Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
- VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualization certifications.
- Experience with identity and access management technologies (SAML, LDAP, OIDC, and/or SSO).
- Experience with SIEM tools and log management platforms.
- Familiarity with AI-driven security tools for behavioral threat detection, automated incident response, and/or intelligent patch prioritization.
- Experience supporting enterprise AI integrations within Microsoft 365 environments, including Microsoft Copilot deployment and administration.
- Understanding of infrastructure requirements for AI and machine learning workloads, including compute, storage, and networking considerations.
- Experience using AI-assisted scripting and development tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate automation and reduce manual effort.
- Familiarity with AI-powered AIOps and monitoring platforms for proactive anomaly detection and automated infrastructure remediation.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge across these key areas of IT: Hypervisor/Virtual servers, IT Infrastructure support, Office365 Administration, and/or Microsoft Azure Administration.
- Experience in multiple AI environments.
- Hands-on experience with an ERP in one or more functional areas (CRM, order management, manufacturing, inventory, service management, project management, finance, and/or HR).
