This role combines automation, cloud-native engineering, production reliability, and operational excellence. You'll work at the intersection of software delivery, infrastructure, monitoring, and platform operations while helping shape the future of our technology landscape.

Role Summary

As a DevOps Engineer, you will help build, operate, automate, and continuously improve the platforms supporting ING's business-critical services.

You'll work within Agile, Scrum, and DevOps ways of working, collaborating closely with software engineers, architects, product teams, and infrastructure specialists. Your focus will be to improve reliability, automate operational processes, optimize deployment pipelines, and create scalable environments that enable engineering teams to move faster and safer.

This role combines hands-on engineering, operational ownership, automation, security, and platform resilience within an international organization serving millions of customers across multiple markets.

Work Model

Our hybrid way of working is designed to balance collaboration, innovation, and personal flexibility. Team members typically come together at our Vadistanbul office for two days per week during three weeks of the month, while one week each month is fully remote.

About the Team

You will join an international engineering environment focused on automation, platform reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

We believe infrastructure should be automated, deployments should be repeatable, operational processes should continuously improve, and engineers should spend less time firefighting and more time preventing problems before they occur.

Our teams collaborate globally while supporting mission-critical banking services that require high standards for reliability, security, compliance, and availability.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Application Developer and/or DevOps Engineer
• Strong understanding of software development and deployment processes within Agile, Scrum, and DevOps environments
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Ansible, and Docker
• Strong Linux administration experience, particularly RedHat-based environments
• Good networking and infrastructure knowledge
• Experience using monitoring and observability platforms such as:
• ELK Stack
• Grafana
• Prometheus
• Automation-first mindset with a passion for eliminating repetitive manual work
• Experience supporting production applications and resolving complex incidents
• Experience providing third-line support and troubleshooting across environments
• Understanding of web security principles and secure software delivery practices
• Experience working in international environments and distributed teams

Automation & Scripting

We are looking for engineers who automate problems away.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and/or Bash
• Experience creating automation scripts and operational tooling
• Ability to simplify, automate, and improve engineering workflows
• Passion for reducing operational toil through automation

Reliability & Operational Excellence

You enjoy building reliable systems and continuously improving operational maturity.

You understand that DevOps is not only about deployment pipelines; it's about making systems safer, more resilient, and easier to operate at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement production changes safely and efficiently while minimizing operational risk
• Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of test environments
• Investigate and resolve third-line incidents and operational challenges
• Drive automation initiatives that reduce manual intervention and operational overhead
• Lead Disaster Recovery planning, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement
• Manage and improve operational runbooks and recovery procedures
• Monitor platform health, reliability, capacity, and performance
• Generate operational reporting and availability metrics
• Support compliance activities and IT control processes
• Collaborate with international engineering teams across ING
• Participate in standby rotations when required

Reliability & Resilience Engineering
