System Engineer
Indexed description
Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on systems engineer to help improve how our server infrastructure is
deployed, operated, monitored, and evolved over time.
This role focuses on Linux systems, server infrastructure, automation, troubleshooting, hardware
validation, lifecycle management, and operational reliability. In the near term, you will support production
operations, improve deployment and validation workflows, build internal tooling, and reduce repeated
manual work through automation.
As you gain context, you will gradually take on broader ownership of server lifecycle management,
hardware qualification, infrastructure automation, and system-level reliability improvements across the
fleet.
This role includes participation in on-call rotations for production infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Production Reliability & System Troubleshooting
Infrastructure Automation & Operations
Hardware, Performance & Lifecycle Management
Investigate production issues across hardware, OS, kernel, drivers, system configuration, and
workload behavior
Support root cause analysis for failures, instability, performance degradation, and recurring operational
problems
Improve monitoring, alerting, diagnostics, validation checks, and operational runbooks
Participate in incident response and on-call rotations for production infrastructure
Build tools and scripts for provisioning, configuration, validation, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle
workflows
Improve server onboarding, baseline configuration, change management, and operational consistency
Reduce manual work by turning repeated tasks into automation, software, or standardized processes
Use AI tools pragmatically to accelerate troubleshooting, scripting, documentation, analysis, and
learning while maintaining review discipline and operational safety
Support evaluation of server platforms and components, including CPU, memory, storage, NICs,
GPUs, firmware, and drivers
Execute validation, stress testing, benchmarking, and qualification workflows for new hardware or
configuration changes
Analyze metrics, logs, benchmarks, and workload behavior to identify bottlenecks, reliability risks, and
optimization opportunities
Track server health, utilization, failure trends, asset status, and configuration history
Gradually take on more ownership of lifecycle planning, upgrades, replacements, and
decommissioning
Requirements
2–5 years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, production engineering,
SRE, or similar roles
Strong Linux fundamentals and hands-on experience debugging production systems
Experience with scripting or automation using Python, Bash, Go, or similar tools
Able to investigate issues using logs, metrics, system tools, benchmarks, and operational data
Comfortable working close to server infrastructure, including hardware, OS, drivers, firmware,
networking, and storage
Strong ownership mindset, with a bias toward automation, consistency, and operational discipline
Comfortable participating in on-call rotations
Uses AI tools effectively in day-to-day engineering work to improve speed, quality, and learning
efficiency
Interested in growing from hands-on execution into broader infrastructure ownership
Nice to have
Experience with server hardware qualification, benchmarking, or lifecycle planning
Familiarity with CPU, memory, NUMA, storage, NIC, GPU, PCIe, firmware, or driver-related issues
Experience with observability, performance analysis, or capacity planning
Experience in high-reliability, high-performance, or latency-sensitive production environments
