Senior DevOps Engineer

Job Summary

Our client is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join their engineering team as the first DevOps hire, taking complete ownership of the DevOps function. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and automation processes on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role requires deep expertise in building highly available, low-latency systems, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in high-performance environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end DevOps function, including infrastructure design, deployment automation, and operational excellence.
• Design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and efficient software delivery.
• Architect and manage high-frequency trading (HFT) infrastructure with a focus on near-zero latency, high availability, and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams to integrate DevOps best practices into the software development lifecycle.
• Configure, deploy, and manage scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform.
• Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or Go to streamline deployment, monitoring, and operational processes.
• Optimize infrastructure, deployments, and CI/CD pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response processes to ensure system stability.
• Stay updated with emerging DevOps technologies and recommend improvements to infrastructure and deployment practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6–7+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps or Cloud Infrastructure Engineering.
• Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), App Engine, Cloud Build, and Cloud Operations.
• Proven experience designing and managing scalable cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.
• Strong experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar tools.
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and infrastructure automation.
• Proficiency in scripting with Python, Bash, or Go.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring (Stackdriver), and logging solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting High-Frequency Trading (HFT) or other low-latency distributed systems.
• Google Cloud certifications such as Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect.
• Exposure to AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or FluxCD is an added advantage.
