Senior IT & Infrastructure Engineer (Hybrid - Belmont, CA)
Brahma Consulting is currently partnering with an incredibly exciting, well-funded startup operating at the intersection of wireless networking, advanced hardware, and physical tracking technologies. They are looking for a versatile, hands-on Senior IT & Infrastructure Engineer to become the technical backbone of their engineering organization.
This is a true "jack-of-all-trades" hybrid role. You won’t just sit in the cloud—you will actively bridge the gap between high-level infrastructure automation, on-premise hardware labs, and internal team support. If you have deep Linux roots, a passion for automation, and a service-oriented mindset where no task is too big or too small, this role offers incredible ownership and impact.
What You’ll Do Day-to-Day
- Own the Physical Labs: Manage on-site compute infrastructure, Linux hosts, Jenkins servers, and specialized hardware/robotics test rigs. You’ll troubleshoot bare-metal issues, storage limits, and hardware/power faults.
- Drive CI/CD & Automation: Build pipelines (Jenkins / GitHub Actions) for firmware and host system images, integrating physical hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) and robotic test workflows.
- Manage Virtualization & Observability: Spin up and maintain Docker containers, KVM hosts, and shared network storage (NFS). You will also own and evolve production Grafana monitoring, alerting, and logging stacks.
- AWS Governance: Lead organization-wide AWS account management, security audits, and cloud spend/cost reporting.
- Support the Team (Internal IT): Serve as the go-to technical point of contact when internal tools break. You'll handle Tier-1 internal helpdesk support (provisioning laptops, managing access for tools like 1Password, GitHub, GitLab, and Cursor), and coordinate vendor relationships.
What My Client Is Looking For
- 5+ Years of Experience in Systems Administration, DevOps, IT Operations, or Infrastructure Engineering (ideally supporting embedded engineering, hardware, or fast-paced startup teams).
- Deep Linux Mastery: Expert-level Linux administration with fluid Bash scripting skills and configuration management experience (SaltStack, Ansible, or equivalent).
- Virtualization & Pipelines: Concrete experience running Docker and KVM, alongside build automation via Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
- Production Observability: Experience building and maintaining production data ingest and alerting using Grafana (or similar stacks).
- AWS Proficiency: Comfortable handling cloud infrastructure at the organizational tier (access governance, billing, auditing).
- A True Service Mindset: A zero-ego approach to technical support. You are just as excited about designing a resilient CI/CD pipeline as you are about unblocking a colleague’s account or provisioning engineering laptops.
- Local to the Bay Area: Ability to be hands-on in the Belmont, CA office at least 3 days a week.
