Job Title: Cloud Engineer (GCP) (REMOTE)

Location: Denver, CO (Must be local to Colorado)

Client: State of Colorado – Office of Information Technology (OIT)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Cloud Engineer to support the State of Colorado Office of Information Technology (OIT). This role is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise cloud infrastructure while driving cloud migration, automation, and operational excellence using DevOps best practices.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD automation, networking, cloud security, monitoring, and enterprise infrastructure deployments. This position also includes participation in an on-call rotation supporting production cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise GCP infrastructure using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for cloud infrastructure deployments.
• Configure and manage VPCs, Shared VPCs, Compute Engine, storage, networking, and cloud security services.
• Develop reusable infrastructure templates that incorporate security, governance, and compliance requirements.
• Manage cloud IAM, user access, organizations, groups, and permissions.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions.
• Develop and maintain cloud operational standards, SOPs, and best practices.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Security, DevOps, and Operations teams on cloud modernization initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging GCP technologies and recommend platform improvements.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues and provide Tier-2 production support.
• Participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call support schedule.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure.
• 5+ years of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using Terraform.
• Strong experience with:
• Google Compute Engine
• VPC & Shared VPC
• Cloud Networking
• Cloud Storage
• IAM & Security
• Monitoring & Logging
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong scripting experience with:
• Bash
• Python
• YAML
• PowerShell
• Experience supporting enterprise cloud infrastructure deployments.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with containers and cloud automation technologies.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect Certification
• Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer Certification
• Experience with:
• Azure DevOps
• GitHub Actions
• GitLab CI
• Other enterprise CI/CD platforms
