Head of IT & DevOps (m/f/d)

We are looking for an experienced leadership professional to take overall responsibility for our IT organization while bringing a strong technical focus in DevOps and Platform Engineering.

This role combines traditional IT leadership responsibilities with a strong emphasis on automation, infrastructure modernization, and DevOps enablement. The goal is to further develop, stabilize, and strategically align a historically grown IT landscape.

Microsoft 365, Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory / Entra ID, Windows 11, Linux, Proxmox VE, Docker, Palo Alto Firewall, Atlassian Toolchain (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket), Jenkins, Artifactory and Generative AI & AI Assisted Development Tools

Your Responsibilities:

Overall IT Leadership

• Lead the entire IT organization (infrastructure, support, DevOps)
• Full responsibility for the IT budget
• Manage external service providers and partners
• Further develop the IT strategy in alignment with business objectives
• Close collaboration with management and business stakeholders

IT Infrastructure & Operations

• Ensure stable day-to-day IT operations (user support, workplace, network, servers)
• Own IT security, network architecture, and server infrastructure
• Drive standardization and scalability of the IT landscape

DevOps & Platform Engineering

• Own build, deployment, and automation processes (“shipping products”)
• Develop and stabilize the CI/CD landscape
• Optimize and further evolve the existing infrastructure
• Promote Infrastructure-as-Code and automation practices
• Ensure stable and scalable platforms for development and operations

Compliance & Governance

• Responsible for expanding and harmonizing the ISO 27001-compliant IT security framework across multiple sites
• Preparation and support of audits
• Establishment of clear processes, documentation, and standards

Your Profile

• Several years of experience in IT leadership, IT Infrastructure, DevOps, or Platform Engineering roles
• Strong hands-on technical understanding of modern IT and DevOps stacks
• Experience with complex, organically grown IT environments
• Ability to think strategically while also making hands-on operational decisions
• Experience leading small to mid-sized IT teams and external partners
• Solid knowledge of infrastructure, networking, servers, automation, and CI/CD
• Confident in managing budgets and resources
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with senior engineers on equal footing

• Is not looking for a pure management role, but wants to stay technically involved and actively shape solutions
