About the Opportunity
An established technology driven organisation is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join its high performing infrastructure team in the fintech space. Operating in a fast-paced, mission critical environment, the business relies on robust, scalable systems to support complex real time applications.
This role offers the opportunity to work with modern infrastructure technologies, automate operational processes, and contribute to the reliability, performance, and scalability of globally distributed systems.
The Role As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving critical production infrastructure. Working closely with software engineers and infrastructure specialists, you will help ensure systems remain secure, highly available, and performant while driving automation and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include
Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform and Ansible, building and enhancing monitoring, alerting and observability platforms, monitoring production environments and responding to incidents, and supporting Linux-based infrastructure across development and production systems.
You will also administer PostgreSQL and time-series databases, assist with workflow orchestration and operational automation, manage enterprise virtualisation and storage platforms, collaborate with software engineering teams to improve build and deployment processes, identify opportunities to automate manual tasks, and contribute to system reliability, capacity planning and performance optimisation.
About You You are a proactive engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and thrives in a collaborative, high performance environment.
You will have strong commercial experience administering Linux environments together with solid scripting skills in Python and/or Bash. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible or similar technologies is essential, along with hands-on exposure to monitoring platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk or equivalent solutions.
You will also possess working knowledge of PostgreSQL and other database technologies, a solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing and firewalls, and experience with Docker and virtualisation platforms such as VMware, KVM or Proxmox. Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling and programming languages including C++, Java or C# will be advantageous but is not essential. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline is preferred.
