Our client is looking for a Linux Engineer to join their growing Technology team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys working across database administration, systems engineering and cloud technologies in a collaborative environment focused on reliability, performance and continuous improvement.
You'll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing critical platforms that support thousands of users, working across both on-premises infrastructure and AWS cloud environments while expanding your technical knowledge and developing new skills.

This is a varied, hands-on position where you'll have the opportunity to:
- Take ownership of a diverse database estate including MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Optimise database performance, availability and security across clustered and cloud-based environments.
- Manage Linux and Windows server infrastructure alongside VMware virtualisation.
- Develop your AWS expertise, with training and support provided to build your cloud knowledge.
- Help deliver robust backup and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring critical systems remain protected.
- Improve monitoring, observability and alerting using modern tooling and dashboards.
- Automate routine operational tasks through scripting and infrastructure-as-code technologies.
- Investigate incidents, resolve technical issues and contribute to ongoing platform improvements.
- Participate in planned out-of-hours maintenance and provide support for critical operational events when required.
- Work closely with software engineers and technology colleagues to build resilient, scalable platforms.
About You
You'll enjoy working across both databases and infrastructure and be motivated by keeping complex environments secure, stable and performing at their best.
Ideally, you'll bring experience with many of the following:
- Database administration across MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Managing clustered or highly available database environments.
- Linux systems administration.
- Windows Server administration.
- VMware virtualisation.
- Backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Infrastructure monitoring and observability platforms.
- Networking fundamentals including DNS, routing and firewalls.
- Bash, Python or other scripting and automation tools.
- Change management and technical documentation.
Experience with AWS is beneficial, but not essential. If you're keen to develop your cloud engineering skills, our client will provide the opportunity and support to help you grow.
