About the Opportunity
We are seeking an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer to join our end-user computing team and support a large-scale AVD environment serving 4,500+ users globally. The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise in designing, deploying, and maintaining multi-session AVD environments, with strong focus on security best practices, performance optimization, automation, and modern application delivery.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design & Deployment: Build, configure, and optimize multi-session AVD environments.
- Management & Operations: Manage and support daily AVD operations including session hosts, host pools, images, and scaling policies.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain AVD security best practices (conditional access, RBAC, MFA, hardening session hosts, patch compliance).
- Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Use Terraform and Nerdio Manager for Enterprise for infrastructure automation, policy-based scaling, and image lifecycle management.
- DevSecOps Integration: Support deployment pipelines by embedding security controls into CI/CD processes for AVD builds, images, and applications.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor performance, resolve user experience issues
- Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams (security, networking, cloud infrastructure, help desk) to ensure a seamless end-user experience.
- Documentation & Standards: Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and ensure compliance with patching, vulnerability, and risk management standards.
Required Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in managing AVD environments.
- Strong understanding of multi-session Windows 10/11 design, profile/container solutions
- Proficiency with Terraform and Nerdio Manager for Enterprise for deployment, automation, scaling, and lifecycle management.
- Experience with application packaging and delivery
- Solid grasp of security best practices
- Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and pipeline integration for secure deployments.
- PowerShell scripting and automation skills for administration and deployment.
- Experience working in enterprise environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as AZ-140 (Configuring and Operating Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop) or AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate).
