Junior HPC System Administrator

We are currently looking for a passionate Junior HPC System Administrator to expand existing team capability on implementing and providing advanced operational support for systems.
As a Junior HPC System Administrator you will contribute to the high availability and smooth operation of the HPC systems. Your role will include monitoring, automation, troubleshooting and user support.
You will be part of a talented team that demonstrates superb technical competency, delivering mission critical services and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. The team members are professionals, with a mindset to innovate, automate, streamline, and provide value to GRNET and to the users of the offered services.
Requirements
Your tasks
- Monitor system availability and respond to alerts
- Assist in automation of system configuration
- Troubleshoot issues with hardware, operating system and parallel file systems
- Respond to user support tickets
- Contribute to system documentation
- Experience in Linux administration (especially RHEL and RHEL clones) and Linux command-line tools
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls)
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python or Perl) for task automation
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible)
- Exposure to monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Ganglia, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Experience in the use of ticketing / issue tracking and project management systems (e.g. Atlassian JIRA, Redmine, etc.)
- Good knowledge of Greek and English language
- Basic understanding of HPC concepts, such as parallel computing and job scheduling
- Familiarity with job schedulers (e.g., SLURM, Torque) for managing compute workloads
- Exposure to HPC hardware components (e.g., GPUs, InfiniBand, parallel file systems like Lustre or GPFS)
- MSc or PhD in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- 2-year experience in a relevant field (HPC environment)
