Software Engineer — Fleet & Reliability (m/f/d)

You ensure that BRANE appliances run reliably at customer sites, covering deployment, updates, monitoring, and remote maintenance. Docker, Linux, TypeScript.

Our appliances are installed in our customers’ data centers. They need to update

themselves, report their status, and remain maintainable without requiring on-site support. You will take ownership of this part of the product, from deployment and updates to monitoring.

Your work is essential to scaling BRANE beyond individual installations. Every deployed appliance should configure itself, update reliably, and report its operational status without physical access or downtime.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

• Deployment and updates for appliances in the field

• Monitoring and status reporting across the fleet

• Provisioning and setup of new appliances

• Secure remote access for maintenance and support

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build reliable update processes with clean rollback mechanisms

• Further automate the setup and provisioning of new appliances

• Diagnose and analyze appliances remotely when issues occur

• Implement monitoring systems and alerting mechanisms

YOUR PROFILE

• Experience operating servers or distributed systems in production

• Strong Docker and Linux skills

• A careful approach to updates, rollbacks, and access permissions

• TypeScript experience or a willingness to learn

• A pragmatic understanding of hardware operating in the field, including limited connectivity and no access to remote hands

• Low-level Linux system administration experience, including boot processes, systemd, and image building, is a plus

• Experience with edge deployments, on-premises environments, or air-gapped systems is a plus
