DevOps Engineer

Global Payments Technology | Remote (UK) | Up to £55,000 base

No visa sponsorship available

About the Role

We're partnering with a fast-scaling global payments company that's building a dedicated DevOps function from the ground up. This is a genuine greenfield opportunity - you'll help establish CI/CD standards, tooling, and culture across a polyglot (.NET/Java), multi-cloud, on-prem-and-cloud technology estate, with real autonomy to shape how the organisation builds and ships software.

You'll work closely with engineering teams to drive a push-button deployment culture, embedding security and quality gates directly into the delivery pipeline - high-stakes, high-impact work in a regulated payments environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, build, and maintain reusable CI/CD pipelines with embedded quality and security gates
  • Drive automation that eliminates manual build, test, and deployment steps
  • Define and implement Infrastructure-as-Code strategy using Terraform and Ansible
  • Partner with engineering teams to embed DevOps principles and standardise toolchains
  • Own platform security practices, including secrets management and cloud security controls
  • Track and improve delivery performance using key metrics (deployment frequency, MTTR, change failure rate)
  • Evaluate emerging tooling and advise on architecture and process improvements

What You'll Bring

  • 3–5 years' hands-on CI/CD and DevOps experience
  • Strong experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins
  • Solid Terraform and Ansible skills for infrastructure and configuration management
  • Cloud experience with one or more of AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Working knowledge of containerisation (Docker), secrets management, and pipeline security practices
  • Scripting ability in Python, JavaScript, or similar
  • Solid grounding in networking fundamentals - SSL, VPN, certificate lifecycle management
  • Comfortable operating across both Linux and Windows environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience across two or more of AWS, Azure, and OCI
  • Deep GitHub Enterprise / GitHub Actions expertise
  • Cloudflare configuration and management
  • Familiarity with package management tools such as Artifactory or Cloudsmith
  • Exposure to .NET and/or Java technology stacks
