Linux Systems & Infrastructure as Code

Scottsdale, AZ

We are seeking an AWS Cloud Administrator in Scottsdale, AZ to support secure cloud infrastructure, AWS networking, Linux systems administration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives within a Department of Defense environment. This role focuses on AWS VPC architecture, Terraform and CloudFormation deployments, cloud environment recovery, Linux administration, ServiceNow MID server support, and compliance with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and security best practices in a cleared environment.


Responsibilities:

  • AWS Cloud Infrastructure
  • Build, configure, and maintain AWS cloud environments, including account structures, VPCs, subnets, route tables, gateways, security groups, and network access controls.
  • Design and implement AWS networking architectures utilizing VPC peering, NAT Gateways, routing strategies, and secure connectivity solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation to ensure repeatable, recoverable, and scalable environments.
  • Capture, document, and version-control AWS environment configurations to support disaster recovery and configuration management.
  • Restore AWS environments from IaC templates, backups, and snapshots following outages, failures, or configuration drift events.
  • Administer and support AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, AWS Config, CloudTrail, and related cloud resources.
  • Implement and manage AWS Backup, EBS snapshots, and recovery processes to support business continuity and system resilience.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, availability, security, and compliance across secure network enclaves.
  • Linux Systems Administration
  • Install, configure, and maintain ServiceNow MID Servers on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, and Ubuntu platforms.
  • Perform Linux system administration activities including patching, hardening, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Apply security controls and system configurations aligned with DISA STIGs and CIS Benchmarks.
  • Automate routine administration and operational tasks using Bash, Python, Ansible, or similar automation tools.
  • Security, Compliance & Documentation
  • Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud environments aligned with FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST 800-53 security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, VPC topology documentation, runbooks, recovery procedures, and operational guides.
  • Coordinate with network engineering and cybersecurity teams to implement firewall rules, enclave connectivity, and secure communications.
  • Support compliance audits, security assessments, and cloud governance initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Active Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance required at time of hire.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field.
  • Minimum 5 years of job-related experience; or a Master’s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on AWS cloud administration experience supporting EC2, VPC, RDS, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, and related AWS services.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing AWS networking architectures, including VPCs, subnets, routing, NAT gateways, and security controls.
  • Proficiency with Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), environment capture, deployment, and recovery.
  • Experience restoring AWS environments using IaC templates, backups, snapshots, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Minimum 2 years of Linux administration experience supporting RHEL, CentOS, and/or Ubuntu systems.
  • Experience administering and supporting ServiceNow MID Servers or similar Linux-hosted enterprise applications.
  • Scripting and automation experience using Bash, Python, Ansible, or related tools.
  • Working knowledge of FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53, cloud security controls, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting secure cloud environments within regulated government, defense, or enterprise environments.
  • Agile development or Agile operations experience preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite in Scottsdale, AZ.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent Linux certification.
  • Experience supporting ServiceNow platform integrations and MID Server operations.
  • Experience working within DoD, federal government, or defense contractor cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with AWS CloudTrail, AWS Config, AWS Backup, and cloud governance frameworks.
