Patch Management Technical Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Patch Management Technical Engineer with deep platform experience across Linux, Windows, .NET, and Java environments. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing tools and processes that automate patch management and improve operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will ensure secure, reliable, and streamlined patching across diverse enterprise systems while contributing to the continuous improvement of platform reliability, automation, and security.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the deployment and maintenance of patches across Linux, Windows, .NET, and Java environments.
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for patch management using tools such as Ansible and other relevant technologies.
- Create and enhance tools, processes, and operational frameworks that support continuous improvement in patch management.
- Read, interpret, and develop architecture diagrams to support tooling, infrastructure, and operational workflows.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements, identify opportunities, and deliver effective solutions.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and external resources as needed.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technical staff, reviewing documentation, proposals, and implementation plans.
- Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to infrastructure, automation, and patch management.
- Promote adherence to established engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Maintain strong knowledge of enterprise applications, infrastructure platforms, development environments, and supporting technologies.
- Identify operational or security risks and escalate issues appropriately.
- Support compliance with organizational security, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in additional technical projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience administering Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Solid knowledge of .NET, Java, and related application frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible for automation and Python scripting.
- Experience with enterprise patch management platforms such as Ivanti, Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM), or similar tools.
- Proven ability to automate infrastructure and operational processes.
- Experience reading and creating technical architecture diagrams.
- Demonstrated success designing and improving patch management processes within large enterprise environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document technical processes and collaborate across technical and business teams.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in complex enterprise infrastructure environments.
