- This role owns infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and environment management for Adobe Commerce (Magento) and supporting systems.
- The Principal DevOps Engineer translates business and delivery needs into stable, automated, and secure environments that enable the development team to deliver at speed and with confidence.
- Act as the accountable owner for environment architecture, deployment patterns, and operational governance across all environments.
- Ensure reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient infrastructure aligned with business needs.
- Oversee environment strategy (dev, staging, UAT, production), including provisioning, refreshes, and access controls.
- Design, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for consistent, automated deployments.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code practices to improve repeatability and reduce manual effort.
- Champion automation across environments to improve developer efficiency and reduce error rates.
- Redesign and implement near-zero-downtime deployment strategies within Adobe Commerce Cloud constraints.
- Establish and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems.
- Drive site reliability practices: availability, performance, capacity planning, and incident response.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and lead continuous improvement of platform reliability.
- Act as the security owner within the GWD team, ensuring platform compliance with group security policies.
- Manage credentials, secrets, and permissions following least-privilege principles.
- Collaborate with the Security Manager (Technology Department) to enforce security best practices and resolve vulnerabilities.
- Access must follow company policy.
- All changes must be committed via version-controlled infrastructure-as-code.
- Partner with Technical Lead, Technical Analysts, and QE Manager to ensure infrastructure and release practices support delivery goals.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to developers and testers on environment usage, deployment practices, and monitoring tools.
- Support post-release stability and participate in incident management.
- Ensure all infrastructure, deployment processes, and environment configurations are documented and version-controlled to prevent points of knowledge dependency.
- Reliability: High availability and performance of all customer-facing environments.
- Efficiency: Reduced deployment friction and faster release cycles through automation.
- Security: Zero critical vulnerabilities left unresolved; strict compliance with group security policies.
- Collaboration: Strong support to delivery pods; positive feedback from developers and testers on enablement.
- Resilience: Documented, repeatable processes for deployments, incident response, and environment management.
- Establish environment parity between development, staging, and production.
- Reduce production release downtime through CI/CD and deployment strategy improvements.
- Strengthen automated testing integration within CI pipelines.
- Formalise environment governance and documentation standards.
- Improve rollback and release confidence mechanisms.
- This role is critical to strengthening platform maturity, reducing operational risk, and establishing repeatable, automated practices across environments and releases.
- The Principal DevOps Engineer will operate as an embedded member of the GWD team, ensuring continuity, documentation, and shared ownership across the team, independent of engagement structure.
- 5+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability, or Infrastructure Engineering roles, preferably in enterprise web platforms.
- Expertise with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerisation/orchestration (eg. Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong skills in CI/CD tooling (eg. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
