Essential And Supplemental Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonableaccommodation.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities; configure / add new services as necessary.
- Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or operational needs.
- Verify hardware and software purchase requests for assigned area; comply with City standards.
- Conduct studies pertaining to development of new information systems to meet current and projected needs.
- Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develop specifications for new systems or prototype systems to improve production or workflow as required.
- Prepare workflow charts and diagrams to specify, in detail, operations to be performed by equipment and computer programs and operations to be performed by personnel in system.
- Upgrade computer application system software and troubleshoot errors to maintain system after implementation.
- Perform system administration duties including setting up and monitoring server back-up processes, adding new users, modifying user/group profiles, and monitoring and tuning server and system resources.
- Evaluate, install, test, and implement new servers, server operating systems and application software packages; install new versions, releases or maintenance levels of existing server operating systems and related components.
- Support PC software and hardware.
- Coordinate and conduct user training, education and problem solving sessions; counsel users regarding system functionality.
- Maintain network components, including routers, bridges, hubs, multiplexors and smart switches.
- Perform preventive maintenance to preclude major network outages or degradation to customer service.
- Develop, customize, test and implement multi-user, server-based application software systems.
- Serve as lead over all aspects of assigned applications development and software implementation projects; evaluate and assess client needs; identify and allocate resources including staff, equipment and materials; set task priorities.
- Confer with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures; identify user problems and system needs, and learn specific input and output requirements, such as forms for data input, how data are to be summarized and formats for reports.
- Write detailed description of user needs, program functions and step required to develop or modify computer programs, and application specifications including database interfaces, user interfaces, business rules, and database relationships.
- Develop request for proposals (RFPs); negotiate and manage vendor contract for information technology services.
- Program, test and implement system and user interfaces to existing and new application systems.
- May assist higher-level staff develop request for proposals (RFPs); negotiate and manage vendor contract for information technology services.
- May attend Technical Review Committee meetings for computer-related purchase approvals.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of information systems.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Serve as liaison between system users and information systems staff in the development, implementation, administration and maintenance of information systems, datacenter, access control systems, public paging systems, video surveillance systems, computer programs and software applications.
- Program and troubleshoot servers and datacenter related to Access control systems, Public Paging systems and IP Camera Systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective server and datacenter maintenance of airport operating systems and related equipment including flight information displays, closed circuit TV monitors, baggage information display systems, Local Area Networks and access control systems.
- Install and maintain VoIP software and applications and Servers; troubleshoot and rectify application software problems; evaluate new software/hardware and recommend changes as needed; prepare and update user manuals and system documentation

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Working Conditions
Environmental
Office environment; exposure to computer screens; may be required to work at multiple worksites; limited exposure to dust, grease and noise.
Physical
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; extensive use of computer keyboard and computer display; travel from office to various sites, moderate to light lifting and movement of equipment; bending, stooping, kneeling.
