Job Summary


Responsible for providing expert technical advice on IT infrastructure for assigned systems, setting technical direction for infrastructure solutions, and for serving as a technical expert for project teams while mentoring and advising others in all system development lifecycle phases.


The Mobility Center of Excellence is seeking an innovative and highly technical Sys Admin / DevOps Engineer to manage the touch points of mobile application development and certification processes. This role supports our development and delivery teams by maintaining, developing, integrating, and enhancing the build-related tools and infrastructure relied upon daily by the Mobility Center of Excellence and its partners.


The ideal candidate will bring expertise in automation, CI/CD pipelines, mobile build processes, and cloud services, working closely with internal customers and development teams to ensure fast, reliable, and secure mobile app delivery.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the Ansible codebase, including Playbooks, Roles, and Collections; utilize Molecule and Testinfra to write and maintain automated tests for the macOS Mac Mini fleet.
  • Integrate Conjur Cloud for secure storage and dynamic retrieval of sensitive data such as SSH keys, API tokens, and certificates; implement the cyberark.conjur lookup plugin to eliminate plaintext secrets in repositories.
  • Gather and analyze system metrics to identify and address problematic Mac Minis; leverage Ansible for rapid remediation and automated provisioning of replacement hardware.
  • Retire and replace machines after their useful life has ended, using automated workflows to ensure zero-touch onboarding for new macOS nodes.
  • Monitor and improve DevOps tools and processes, automate routine tasks, and implement Ansible-driven self-healing mechanisms to improve fleet reliability.
  • Keep the CI toolchain updated including Xcode, Homebrew, and various SDKs, and resolve build or deployment issues using standardized Ansible configurations to ensure parity across the fleet.
  • Evaluate and potentially deploy CI services on cloud platforms such as Azure or macOS-specific cloud providers.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate new features, components, and assets into the build and release process.
  • Create automated hooks from repository through continuous integration to the Enterprise App Store.
  • Manage and enhance application code signing processes for iOS and Android, ensuring secure handling of certificates and provisioning profiles via Conjur Cloud.
  • Maintain build and configuration documentation while enforcing coding design and style standards using ansible-lint.
  • Support Git repository build tagging, branching, and merging.
  • Create technical documentation for process flows and configurations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve build, installation, and configuration issues for Android and iOS.
  • Research, evaluate, and integrate new technologies into existing systems where appropriate.
  • Conducts or oversees business-specific projects by applying deep expertise in infrastructure automation; promoting adherence to procedures and policies; and developing work plans to meet business priorities.
  • Practices self-leadership and promotes learning in others by building relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and mentoring junior team members in Ansible and macOS build engineering.
  • Responsible for leveraging DevOps, Waterfall, and Agile practices to design and deliver resilient, secure, high-volume, on/off-premise, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Provides consultation and expert technical advice on IT infrastructure planning, engineering, and architecture by assessing the implications of IT strategies on infrastructure capabilities.
  • Provides recommendations and input on options, risks, costs, and benefits for systems designs.
  • Leverages partnerships with IT teams and key business partners to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Serves as a functional expert and collaborates with architects and software engineers to ensure functional specifications are converted into flexible, scalable, and maintainable system designs.
  • Translates business requirements and functional/non-functional requirements into technical specifications that support integrated and sustainable designs for complex infrastructure systems.
  • Ensures system designs adhere to company architecture standards.
  • Builds partnerships with counterparts in various IT Teams including databases, operations, and technical support throughout system development and implementation.
  • Serves as a technical expert for project teams by defining and overseeing the documentation of detailed standards for the introduction and maintenance of services.
  • Mentors other technical resources throughout infrastructure systems development and reviews technical specifications for multi-dimensional solutions.
  • Leads the development and modification of solutions by identifying technical solutions to business problems.
  • Collaborates with business leaders and lead enterprise architects to review business drivers and establish a foundation for enterprise systems planning.
  • Reviews benchmarking results and provides information to support current and future infrastructure needs and projects to IT leadership.
  • Benchmarks and evaluates IT trends and technologies, such as Apple Silicon transitions and virtualization, to identify opportunities that impact ROI.
  • Makes recommendations on resources required to maintain service levels and meet new demands.
  • Guides and drives physical architecture design for new initiatives.

Job Qualifications

Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent. With no bachelor’s degree, 3 years of additional work experience listed in the requirements below may be substituted for the degree requirement.


Must-Have Requirements:


  • Advanced English level
  • (3) years of experience working as Sys Admin / Dev Ops Engineer with hands-on experience in each of the following:
  • Managing CI/CD runner infrastructure, preferably on macOS OR equivalent environments, with experience supporting Linux‑based runners.
  • Using Infrastructure as Code (Ansible‑based) Terraform is considered an alternative or complementary.
  • Ensuring: Consistent machine state, OS and tooling upgrades, tool installation/removal, optimization of runner usage, acting as the infrastructure owner, while working closely with DevOps.
  • Strong DevOps / Infrastructure background
  • Linux administration
  • Automation & configuration management
  • Comfort with Ansible and IaC concepts
  • Ability to manage infrastructure at scale
  • (1) years of experience working with Python.
  • (2) years in a technical lead role with or without direct reports

Desired but not required

  • Experience working with:
  • Code and image repositories (e.g., Git, GitHub).
  • Automated testing tools (e.g., Molecule, Testinfra, XCUITest, Perfecto).
  • Scripting experience using UNIX/Linux scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) and using PowerShell.
  • Applying networking fundamentals, including DNS, TCP/IP, NAT, PAT, routing, load balancing, and packet inspection tools (e.g., Wireshark).
  • Monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk).
  • Working with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions).
  • Agile development tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure).
  • Experience deploying changes to production environments.
  • Working in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • Experience leading the development of technical documentation in an infrastructure development environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently to deliver on schedule without sacrificing quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and quickly troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, QEMU).
  • Experience with mobile app dependency management tools (Swift Package Manager, Maven).
  • Native mobile app distribution technologies.
  • Enterprise mobile app signing and provisioning processes.
  • Gradle and mobile build tools for iOS and Android.

Familiarity with HIPAA/PCI compliance requirements.
