The role
As a Senior Software Engineer at TrustID, you will:
· Own end-to-end delivery of complex features across the full stack — from .NET/C# services and database design through to Angular front-end implementation.
· Bring deep technical expertise and sound judgement to design and architecture decisions within your product area, not just implementation.
· Write high-quality, secure, well-tested code and set the standard others measure themselves against.
· Use AI/agentic coding assistants as a core part of your daily workflow, and actively help the wider team adopt them effectively.
· Mentor and influence engineers through pairing, code review, and technical guidance — raising the bar for the whole team.
· Partner closely with your Tech Lead and Engineering Manager on technical direction, estimation, and risk.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Delivery
· Design and build features end-to-end: C#/.NET services and APIs, database schema, and Angular front-end — with real ownership of quality across all three.
· Make sound architectural and design trade-offs within your product area; know when to raise decisions and when to just make the call.
· Write clean, testable, secure, production-grade code daily, across the stack.
· Break down complex, ambiguous work into shippable increments and deliver value continuously.
· Provide realistic, credible estimates; flag technical risks and dependencies early and clearly.
· Participate fully in agile ceremonies: planning, refinement, stand-ups, reviews, retros.
Code Quality & Engineering Practice
· Drive TDD/BDD and clean code principles (SOLID) as the default, both back-end and front-end.
· Own code review culture within your area: give (and expect) constructive, educational feedback that raises standards.
· Apply secure coding practices as second nature: OWASP fundamentals, dependency management, threat awareness.
· Build observability into everything you ship: logging, monitoring, meaningful alerting.
· Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines; keep builds fast, reliable, and low-friction.
· Identify and refactor technical debt proactively — manage it as a first-class engineering concern, not an afterthought.
AI and Agentic Coding Assistants
· Use AI coding assistants (Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.) daily and fluently: writing code, tests, documentation, debugging, and reviewing.
· Apply a disciplined generation → review → refinement workflow — treat AI output as a draft that earns its way into production.
· Actively teach effective prompting and verification techniques to other engineers.
· Ensure AI-generated code meets the same security and quality bar as anything else you ship — no exceptions.
· Spot and champion opportunities where AI/LLM capability could genuinely improve the product, not just personal output.
Technical Collaboration & Mentorship
· Pair with and mentor engineers across levels, including less experienced team members and apprentices.
· Bring a strong, well-reasoned point of view to technical discussions and design sessions.
· Contribute to onboarding and technical interviewing of new engineers.
· Escalate technical blockers and risks to your Tech Lead/Engineering Manager clearly and early.
Required Experience and Skills
Technical
· Significant senior-level engineering experience with a track record of owning complex, full-stack features end-to-end.
· Strong, hands-on expertise in C# and .NET (.NET Core / ASP.NET Core preferred).
· Angular experience is essential — you should be comfortable building and maintaining production Angular applications, not just consuming components someone else built.
· Solid understanding of relational databases (SQL Server or PostgreSQL): schema design, query performance, migrations, Entity Framework (or similar ORM).
· Genuine full-stack capability — confident moving between back-end services, front-end (Angular/TypeScript), and the database layer without needing hand-holding.
· Practical experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS a plus) and containerisation (Docker; Kubernetes exposure a plus).
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code concepts.
· Strong security fundamentals: OWASP Top 10, secure coding practices, dependency hygiene.
· Experience designing scalable, maintainable architectures and evolving legacy systems without breaking them.
AI and Engineering Practice
· Daily, fluent user of AI coding assistants with demonstrable productivity gains, not just occasional use.
· Experience helping others adopt AI tools effectively: what works, what doesn't, common pitfalls.
· Strong practitioner of TDD/BDD, clean code principles, SOLID design, comprehensive automated testing.
· Experienced in pair/mob programming and high-quality code review practices.
Behavioural
· Technical credibility: engineers seek out your judgement and trust your direction.
· Clear communicator: explains complex trade-offs to engineers, Product, and stakeholders with equal clarity.
· Pragmatic decision-maker: balances technical excellence with delivery reality and makes the call.
· Collaborative: works effectively with Product, Design, QA, other engineers, and Tech Leads.
· Ownership mentality: takes responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.
· Continuous learner: stays current with technology, experiments, and shares knowledge generously.
Nice to Have
· B2B SaaS or identity/verification domain experience.
· Experience integrating AI/ML services or LLM APIs into production systems.
· Event-driven architecture, message queues, or reactive systems experience.
· Contributions to open source or active participation in technical communities.
