About the Role
ServiceLink is seeking a skilled Software Engineer II to design, develop, and maintain applications that power our mortgage services platform. The ideal candidate brings solid full-stack development fundamentals, a passion for clean and maintainable code, and a curiosity for emerging tools and technologies. Key Responsibilities
Application Development & Delivery
• Design, configure, code, test, and deploy software applications that meet business and functional requirements.
• Develop technical design documents to support business requirements and engineering decisions.
• Maintain and support applications, including performance tuning, bug fixing, and production support activities.
• Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Perform tasks as required by management and supervisory staff; all other duties as assigned.
Backend Development
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and web services using .NET Core and ASP.NET Core.
• Design and implement backend logic with emphasis on code quality, resilience, and scalability.
• Work with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) including schema design, query optimization, and stored procedures.
• Apply working knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB) for appropriate use cases.
• Implement asynchronous and event-driven patterns using messaging technologies.
Frontend Development
• Build responsive user interfaces using modern frameworks such as Angular or React.
• Write clean, semantic HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Ensure frontend components are performant, accessible, and maintainable.
AI-Augmented Engineering
• Leverage agentic coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate development and improve code quality.
• Integrate AI-assisted workflows into daily engineering practice, with appropriate code review and quality standards.
• Stay curious—actively explore open-source tools and emerging technologies relevant to platform and team needs.
Quality & Collaboration
• Write testable, well-documented code with a focus on maintainability and long-term resilience.
• Participate in code reviews, contributing constructive feedback and incorporating input from peers.
• Work effectively in an Agile environment, contributing to sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
• Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical team members.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with .NET Core and ASP.NET Core for building web applications and REST APIs.
• Solid SQL skills including query writing, optimization, and schema design for relational databases.
• Working knowledge of at least one NoSQL database (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cosmos DB).
• Experience with frontend development using HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, and a modern framework (Angular or React).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and cloud-native deployment patterns.
• Experience with containerization using Docker and/or Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and source control (Git/GitHub).
• Experience adopting agentic coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
• Experience designing microservices architectures.
• Familiarity with asynchronous messaging patterns and event-driven design.
• Experience with performance profiling and application observability (logging, tracing, monitoring).
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum development practices.
• Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments such as financial services or mortgage.
