Application Developer - Full-Stack Java & Angular (Freelance possible)

Tasks and responsibilities

You will contribute to a large public-sector programme focused on taking over and modernising a portfolio of around thirty business applications.

The scope combines handover/takeover activities, operational maintenance, the development of new features, and where needed re-engineering or full rewrites to align existing applications with current development standards.

️ Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain business applications in a complex multi-system environment.
  • Build and enhance application components and RESTful web services.
  • Contribute to the design of architecture components and technical building blocks in close collaboration with the technical lead and software architects.
  • Participate in technical working groups, Scrum ceremonies and user meetings when required.
  • Support testing, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation and reporting, including follow-up in JIRA.

Your profile

Confirmed Application Developer with strong full-stack Java experience and a clear affinity for frontend development.

Experiences

  • Minimum 7 years of full-time professional experience in Java development.
  • Full-stack experience is preferred, with a backend focus and a strong interest in frontend work.
  • Familiarity with multi-system integrations and complex application landscapes.

Competencies

Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience are expected so you can contribute quickly to development and support activities.

  • Test-driven development (JUnit, Mockito, Cypress)

  • Experience with relational databases and O/R mapping, such as PostgreSQL and SQL Server
  • Ability to read and understand BPMN, UML and documentation practices
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, continuous integration and software engineering best practices
  • Ability to analyse existing code quickly and solve problems effectively
  • Solution-oriented and user-focused mindset
  • Ability to integrate easily into an existing team

  • Hybrid setup with a minimum of 2 days on site per week
