What You'll Do
Development & Technical Ownership
- Perform full-stack development across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and operations — including the design, development, testing, configuration, and deployment of technical products within your application or platform domain.
- Take end-to-end ownership of features and components: design, build, test, deploy, and operate them to solve technical challenges with growing autonomy.
- Identify and help address technical debt and operational risks proactively.
- Contribute to technical improvements and solution concepts early in the development process.
- Uphold coding and application security standards, applying secure coding, testing, observability, and clear documentation.
- Continuously enhance components, processes, and the CI/CD toolchain to align with industry best practices across multiple programming languages.
- Participate in code reviews and refactoring to maintain high-quality, maintainable code.
- Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability through robust design and reliability engineering concepts.
- Execute controlled deployments, including rollback planning and validation, and provide advanced technical support.
- Collaborate closely with the Scrum Team — Developers, Product Owner, and Scrum Master — through all Scrum events to deliver high-quality, potentially shippable product increments.
- Working alongside software engineers, architects, and other platform engineers, fostering shared ownership and agile ways of working.
- Mentor and guide interns and junior software engineers, supporting their technical growth and professional development.
- Demonstrate strong proactiveness, effective communication, and collaborative teamwork.
- Leverage modern technologies, including AI in the software development lifecycle, to improve efficiency, maintainability, and scalability.
- Promote best practices and continuous process improvement within the team.
Must-have
- A Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Around 3+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer or in a similar role, with hands-on software development and operations experience in a cloud environment.
- Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages (Java & Spring Boot preferred) and scripting languages.
- Practical experience with several of the following: microservices architecture, AWS / public cloud, REST API design, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Strong conceptual and analytical thinking, supported by hands-on development experience across multiple technologies.
- Ability to take ownership, collaborate across cross-functional teams, and communicate clearly in an agile environment.
- A proactive problem-solver with a strong team-oriented mindset and the eagerness to quickly learn and apply new technical skills.
- Familiarity with Scrum values and the Scrum development framework; prior experience in a Scrum Team is a plus.
- Experience applying AI tooling within the SDLC.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps, SRE, or platform engineering patterns, including monitoring/observability.
- Knowledge of event-driven design and distributed systems.
- Experience or knowledge across our technology stack:
- DevOps Toolchain: GitLab, CI/CD, Docker, Terraform
- Project Management Tools: Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence)
- Languages & Frameworks: Java (Spring Framework), JavaScript (Angular, Node.js)
- Databases: PostgreSQL and others
- Make a direct impact on the foundation of Hilti's cloud development platform and subscription services.
- Be part of a forward-looking, international platform engineering organization shaping Hilti's cloud and AI capabilities.
- Work with modern technologies — AWS, AI, IaC, Kubernetes, automation, and backend services.
- Grow through Hilti's MyDevelopment framework, with clear role expectations and a progression path toward senior engineering roles (Grade 18 and beyond).
