Reports To: Engineering Manager

Position Summary

Smart Warehousing is seeking a Software Developer to join a product team delivering highly scalable, multi-tenant applications and services for our cloud-based 3PL platform. You'll rotate across SmartVisibility and SWIMS, building breadth before settling into a track, while owning real features and fixes in production systems from day one.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-quality, scalable, and stable web applications and/or back-end services
  • Participate in code reviews, as both author and reviewer
  • Ensure feature quality through extensive testing (unit, integration, performance)
  • Own your solutions from development to production
  • Support our products by participating in an on-call rotation that may include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Complete required testing and documentation to support product releases and regulatory submissions
  • Work within a team that follows agile practices, code reviews, and CI/CD
  • Rotate across SmartVisibility and SWIMS to build exposure across the platform before specializing
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the team lead or Engineering Manager

Qualifications

Required

  • 1+ years of hands-on development experience (professional, internship, or substantial independent/open-source work)
  • Working proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript or a comparable modern language
  • Solid grasp of fundamentals: data structures, control flow, debugging methodology
  • Experience with REST APIs and at least one database technology
  • Git/GitHub proficiency
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently on a scoped task and know when to escalate

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Node.js specifically
  • Exposure to Perl (used on the SWIMS side)
  • Exposure to AWS (Lambda, ECS, SQS) or another cloud platform
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.)
  • Familiarity with warehouse management, supply chain, or logistics systems

Qualifications

“THE PERSON” | MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent in experience
  • 3+ years of experience in building software products using JavaScript/ES6+, Golang, C# or some other object-oriented language with evidence of exceptional ability
  • Experience building scalable applications (Web applications or back-end services)
  • Knowledge of ReactJS and its core principles
  • Hands on experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Mongo) database technologies
  • Experience developing within a microservice based architecture, working with event-driven architecture is a plus
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and processes

PHYSICAL OR MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to see, hear, talk, write, read, stand, walk, bend over, and be alert at all times. The employee is frequently required to use hands to type, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. While infrequent, employee may need to visit warehouse locations in which employee may need to lift, push, and pull up to 20 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, drive (vehicle), stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.
