Full Stack Developer
About Vistera
Vistera is building the platform that gives small and mid sized businesses on-demand access to the professional expertise they normally cannot afford to keep in house. We pair a vetted network of experts with purpose-built AI so that a client can initiate work and get back a high quality, accountable result in a fraction of the usual time and cost. The model is augmentation and access: AI extends what skilled professionals can deliver and widens who can reach them. It does not replace professional judgment.
Reports To: Lead Engineer
Location: Greater Vancouver, BC
Position Type: Full-time
Department: Business Applications & Innovation
Compensation: $125,000 - $130,000/year
Position Summary
We are bringing a full stack developer onto the Vistera engineering team to add net-new internal building capacity as we move from validation into commercial launch. You will build meaningful slices of the platform end to end, from the interfaces clients touch to the services and AI workflows behind them, working closely with the Lead Engineer, who owns the overall architecture.
You report to the Lead Engineer and work alongside a tight group of engineers and the business applications function. You will be expected to use modern AI development tooling as a force multiplier, not a novelty, and to operate comfortably in an environment where priorities can shift week to week as the product meets the market.
Core Accountabilities
- Design, build, test and ship features across the full stack, taking ownership of your work from interface through to backend services and data.
- Build and integrate AI-driven workflows into the product, wiring large language model capabilities into real client-facing features safely and reliably.
- Use agentic AI coding tools as a core part of your daily workflow to move fast without sacrificing quality. This is central to how this team works, not an add-on.
- Build and deploy on AWS, working with the Lead Engineer on infrastructure and architecture decisions while owning the day-to-day delivery of your features.
- Contribute to technical and product discussions, translate business requirements into sound implementation choices, and speak up when something will not scale.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and take part in the reviews and practices that keep a small team fast as it grows.
- Collaborate directly with the expert network and operations side to make sure what we build matches how the work actually gets done.
What You Bring
Must have
- At least five years of professional full stack development, with a track record of shipping production features end to end.
- Strong command of a modern front-end framework and a server-side language, plus relational databases and API design.
- Hands-on, fluent use of current AI development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and Codex, and direct experience integrating LLM APIs into shipped products. This is the skill we weigh most heavily.
- Working knowledge of AWS: compute, storage, databases, serverless patterns and the basics of secure, cost-aware cloud architecture.
- Provided operations support to a production environment with active customers.
- Security and privacy focused. Our customer data is important to us and all technical decisions treat it as such.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast agile environment: comfortable with ambiguity, short cycles, shifting priorities and shipping iteratively.
- Clear communication and good judgment. You can explain trade-offs to non-engineers and make sensible calls without waiting to be told.
- Eligibility to work in Canada and availability to work on a hybrid basis from the Greater Vancouver area.
Nice to have
- Early-stage or startup experience, especially taking a product from pre-launch into commercial release.
- Infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Pulumi, Terraform, Docker and similar).
- Background in professional services, legal tech, fintech or another regulated or trust-sensitive domain.
- Exposure to security and privacy practices appropriate to handling sensitive client data.
Our Technical Environment
You will work in a modern web stack with AI capabilities woven through the product, deployed on AWS, with an engineering culture that treats AI tooling as standard equipment.
TypeScript · Next.js · AWS (SST, Lambda, S3, Aurora) · Mastra agentic AI
You will ship in a monorepo across two Next.js apps and AWS Lambda APIs, with Mastra-powered chat and document workflows woven through the product. PostgreSQL/Prisma, Better Auth, and AI-assisted development round out the day-to-day stack.
How We Work
Small team, real ownership, short distance between an idea and it being in front of a client. We value people who take responsibility for their work, communicate plainly, and use the best tools available to do more with less. Because the team is still being built, you will have meaningful influence over the product and how we work, and a clear runway to grow as Vistera grows.
